Louis Vuitton Neverfull totally trashy and out?

Well, if you don't like the bag..don't used it. If you don't feel happy. Don't use it. I think the DE is a very popular choice. I love the way it looks. My advice is to start using it, you will have a completely change of heart. You will see how versatile it is and in how many occasions you will be using it! Exito!

I was originally concerned about buying my first LV bag (I got the Speedy in DE) because of similar reasons you had. I had seen a woman wearing the Speedy in monogram and she looked so chic and classy that I thought it looked beautiful on her, but I was never interested in LV before that. I wasn't as interested in the brand before simply because I felt like it was very common due to my own personal perception of the brand. But I just got over it and ultimately decided that I loved it because of its history and how I can wear/style it. It's a classic for a reason and I wanted it to be part of my collection. In the end I think it can fit and reflect a variety of different people's styles and lifestyles, but YOU wear the bag. Not the other way around ;)

Tacky is a matter of opinion indeed. I love my Neverfull and I like mono. Don't worry about other people - I wear my mono with pride! Please yourself - don't worry about other people.

.............Honestly, I like people seeing I have an LV, I work very hard and spend my money on things I like and I want people to know I am successful enough to afford such luxury. Cmon', it's why most people buy luxury anyways or we would all use no-name bags from Target that are just as durable. I guess I am different in that sense but I buy it for me and I don't worry about our or others opinions', its your own opinon that matters! Enjoy the bag!

I didn't think so at the time -- especially in the print and lining, which I found pretty and changed how I felt about it. Seriously, the pink made a big difference! And, as I said in this thread -- I like vintage LV monogram and others -- I think I always had a problem with the Neverfull classic monogram -- but I fell for the Damier Ebene with pink lining. I was just having a crisis afterwards (this happens to me sometimes). It's more about being understated, I guess. I should not have even questioned tacky -- I meant more ostentatious or too basic (a weird combination). Thanks those who worked me through this!

I see the appeal of the bag. It’s functional, a workhorse bag and it’s made well— a very practical choice. I personally love the RB interior, but I have not bought the bag for one reason. It is ubiquitous and for me it’s a turnoff to see it everywhere. Some people don’t mind but I don’t like the idea dropping that kind of cash on a bag that is all over the place.

I think it may help if you wear the bag out a few times since you can’t return it. Instead of overthinking it, pay attention to how you feel when carrying the bag. I do this with any bag that I’m considering selling. If I’ve taken it out a few times and i don’t feel the love for the bag, I know it s time to let go of it. I cut my losses and move on. With this bag you probably won’t lose money if you decide to sell...especially since it was bought in Europe. Good luck!

I think it’s a really beautiful bag and one of the most iconic totes. Imitated by many other brands like Goyard, MCM, Michael Kors and so many others.

It’s a bag with many uses. It can be a work bag, a gym bag or airports bag. Personally I prefer smaller bags but with a Louis Vuitton classic you’d never go wrong.

I’d like to get the Alma BB one day because it goes better with my needs but if needed a tote the Never full would be my dream bag. But totes are not in my radar.

I loved the way you posed your question and the deadline. it was clever, well-written and kind of hilarious. I don't own any LV because I sort of feel the same way as you. But I understand being swept away with the pink interior. I know the bag and do think it's pretty, but not sure I would wear it either... because those Neverfull bags are freaking everywhere. Plus, I also find myself in a bit of a quandary about conspicuous consumption - so the quote from the WaPo article hit home with me too.

Since you've already worn it, maybe keep wearing it a bit and see how it feels to you. If you end up deciding it's just not you, then sell. There will always be a market for them.:)

"But experts say the penchant for more discreet luxury goods is also partly being fueled by the simmering political debate about income inequality, which is leaving some big spenders worried that it is tacky to carry a purse that practically announces its four-figure price tag."

Even though this first post of this thread is over a year old, the WAPO quote is another unending ill attempt to make people feel guilty over whatever, because papers thrive on crap that "offends". I'll wear my Chanel, LV, Bottega, etc all day long and I'm truly over if it "offends" somebody. On the other hand, I did go shopping on Michigan Avenue in Chicago yesterday and put my LV inside a Longchamps Le Pliage bag, only because I didn't to stand out due to the city's high crime even on Michigan Ave, not because I felt "worried or tacky" to carry a purse that cost more than $2.

I find that those who most vocally bring up "income inequality" issues went to expensive schools, live in beautiful homes, drive luxury cars, dine at expensive restaurants, etc themselves. There's a difference between living well vs. wearing LV or some such thing, but the fact remains that those "concerned" or write about income inequality aren't going to give up one dime of what THEY have. That said, the Neverfull is hugely popular, those who love it and similar things should wear them proudly.

I see this bag quite often where I live (this is actually pretty recent). Sometimes I see stylish people wear it and sometimes I see people who wear it and look like they just crawled out of bed. This has nothing to do with the actual bag. It you like it and it works in your bag wardrobe, keep it. If you truly don’t like it and are having buyer’s remorse, sell it, donate it, or give it away.

Hi! I am new to the forum and have a weird dilemma (is it weird? maybe not.) Anyway, I have the LV MM Neverfull in Damier Ebene with the pink interior. I think it's a pretty bag, but I actually don't like LV much, I never did -- I find LV too flashy, and that particular style, while basic and nice, is SO EVERYWHERE that I feel like I don't want to wear it. I was seduced by the pink interior, the store, the boxes! It was like I was in an LV trance or something! I don't know what came over me. I just thought it seemed so sensible and pretty (and it is!) BUT My question is:

1. Do you agree with me? That it's tacky and kind of (sorry) basic *****?

I can't return it because I used it once (I've had it less than two weeks), and I bought it out of the country at the LV store in Barcelona, so I have that sinking feeling...

Thoughts?
i completely agree. LV is not special and has not ben special for many years. Wherever I go i see the Neverfull bag: the nail salon, grocery store, post office. Everyone carries that bag. LV used to be associated with class and wealth. No more.

I don't agree with it being trashy or outdated. It's POPULAR, but that doesn't take away the great feeling a girl (or guy) feels when opening their package of a new or preloved one. Just because it's common doesn't automatically make it synonymous with tackiness. Can some of the designs come off as gaudy? Definitely. My suggestion if you feel this way is maybe opt for an epi leather one. Personally I love the damier print. It's the only LV I own. Maybe try wearing it out more as someone suggested. It's a more casual bag but at that price point (that's always increasing) I wouldn't scoff at this style. Enjoy!♡

I’m here in 2021 and I’m curious to know what did you end up doing? Haha x

i have a fundamental problem with anyone using the word "trashy"....not everyone loves the same things and it's kind of judgmental to use words like that....if YOU don't like something, you shouldn't buy it and it shouldn't matter what anyone else thinks...

Not trashy, but personally not for me either. I am not very concerned what others wear because it isn't my choice and has zero effect on me. For me I don't care for logos much and it is just overpriced PVC coated cotton imo. I can't support LV as a company though since they are terrible.
