Glad you decided on the ruby!! I feel that because this is replacing your original engagement ring and your DH is not happy with the Birkin, it wouldn't be fair to force him into purchasing it anyway because just like the engagement ring, the gift should be representative of the two of you. Just my opinion but I think you've chosen the right thing. Congrats!!

Ah you've decided :D

I voted for the ruby ring too. A quick google found this http://www.burmesegems.com/home.cfm?pageid=about and I'm sure, with research, you could find something fabulous somewhere.

Obviously an exotic Birkin is TDF (I'm having an exotic fetish atm too, but nowhere near H territory). Incidentally, I don't think the waiting lists here are that long... there are loads in the stores :p I go to dream!

As for gold - the price has got to peak soon. Then it's all downhill. Someone's just put in a gold-bar vending machine in, I think, Abu Dhabi!

Thanks for the article. I've decided on ruby because DH hates the Birkin idea, well actually he hates handbags in general. :p I think the gold may be too risky should it head its peak, though I still think it's going up for a few months until the economy turns around, who knows.

I think you made the right choice! Ring you always wanted and you have a birkin coming...even though it's not exotic!

Sorry you lost your ring. Even though you didn't wear it, I understand the sentimental value associated with the loss...
