Longchamp Le Pliage is annoying...debate!

I agree with ya:yes: Some Longchamp leather bags are appealing, but those Pliage ones are......:nogood:
The nylon isn't that awesome and seems to me to be rather thin, so I much prefer Prada's nylon bags for practical times. The leather isn't great either and the round shoulder handles are painful when you stuff the bag up.
All in all, no goooooood!!!! lol

haha...same problem with mine! i showed it to my mother, and she fixed it :)
looked fine...i thought she did that trick tailors do to fix frayed edges on clothes, until she told me she used super glue LMAO hahaha
l

if you take your pliage back to the Longchamp boutique, they can also repair the corners (for free!)

I happen to really like the two that I have. They're ideal for traveling. When my husband and I travel to Europe, we each only carry one carryon-size suitcase and/or a backpack. The Les Pliages tote is a convenient item to carry while sightseeing, to use as a beach bag and for carrying home souvenirs. Lastly, the medium size is so roomy that I stuff my handbag in it for those intra-Europe flights that only allow one carry-on item.

these are the perfect travel bag. when traveling international, and throwing your bag through security, putting on a dirty airplane, dragging it here and there, sitting in the airport and it's getting smashed with your other bags, i have learned to not bring a good bag with me. forget it. but the longchamp pliage is perfect. it can go to the beach, it can go hiking, it can go shopping, it's great. i don't care if something gets on it, it's so replaceable. believe me, they are terrific bags for just throwing around.

what I find funny is that many members see it as a throw around tote. cheap enough and such, in Europe they cost 79€ which is actually much for the average student I think. you can get bags at H&M for 19,90€ lol

I'm not a fan of them - but I can completely see where they have a purpose. It's like the Vera Bradley bag that someone gave me. I'm not a huge fan of it - but it has it's purpose...it makes an excellent gym bag - and is one I can throw around or use as a recyclable grocery bag.

To each their own.

I mean they make the brand look cheap. So when the brand looks cheap it affects their products especially the expensive ones. Thats why I stopped from buying longchamp because buying their leather type of bags is not worth it. People will think it is still a $100 bag. Opinions? Should I still continue to venture to leather longchamp? My two longchamps are all leather.

Whoa, that's kind of harsh. There are many Longchamp AND Le Pliage fans out there. I wouldn't cast dispersions as everyone has their own opinions but voice them a little more tactfully.

If you have such a negative opinion of their nylon bags why would you consider their leather bags? I don't get it.

Its all a matter of opinion and perspective really... You can justify why you dont want to keep buying the brand but you really dont need people telling you to do otherwise.

Personally I dont care about the mental calculator that goes on in people's minds when they see me with a Pliage , or any other style LC, or ANY brand for that matter . I carry a bag for the needs it fulfill (and a 4-figure dollar sign flashing on top of it is none of those!) Besides , I dont presume to think that the people I see care about the value of the bag Im wearing for that matter.

My first Designer bags were Coach, LV and Balenciaga - before I went into Longchamp . I see Pliages almost everywhere and never once felt uncomfortable that so many can afford it. :)
Pliages don't cheapen the brand (you would be surprised at how many still consider $100 too much for a nylon tote or any bag) - they make it popular . Popularity in my book doesn't equate to cheap. But, like i said, all perspective and opinion. :)

Great post, that really sums it up.

I don't know any brand that doesn't have a less expensive popular model or a diffusion/younger line.

I have a leather Longchamps but NOT an LP, the Pilage doesn't put me off the brand, its just an everyday, all-weather bag.

Someone should have to be particularly stupid to think an all-leather bag would be the same price as a nylon tote, why would I care what stupid people think? :shrugs:

I'm afraid I don't really understand what this thread is supposed to be about?

You hate Le Pliage because you think people will think your leather bag is equally inexpensive? So you wish Longchamp would stop selling Le Pliage? Or that they would raise the price even higher?

You're upset with the quality of Le Pliage because you think it's going downhill and therefore maybe the leather ones will go the same way?

I'm just not sure I understand what you're saying exactly.
I am kind of over all the threads about how crappy/common/sick of Le Pliage some people are.

Okay, we get it. You don't like the bag. Then don't buy it.
If you're worried that someone will think your leather bag is cheap because the same designer sells a less expensive bag then buy an obviously expensive bag so everyone will know how expensive your bag is.

All easy to solve dilemmas.

Initially, i thought the price was too steep for a nylon bag, so i put off getting it even as it got more and more popular and i decided that it did look nice on the girls who wore it.
And... I still put off getting it.
But... when i got a plain back short handle one, I found that it was really quite stylish & functional.
i still think that the price is steep for a nylon bag, but i ended up getting another planetes and the cuir.
i think there are people who don't like bag or the price or whatever and that's ok.
And there are people who want to get it and that's ok too.
It just depends on what works for you & what you like.
