For me that is a lot for a BB even if it's all leather. LV leather is horrible at holding value. Chanel leather holds value. I buy a $5500 capucines and walk out the door, it's worth about $3000. I buy a classic flap for $6800 and walk out the door, it's worth about $6500. However, if you're in love with the bag you should get it.
My first thought was "OH! What a pretty bag!" and it is. Elegant, classy and....pretty. 
Then I saw it on the model and thought "It needs to be larger and why the heck did they pair it with a mumu and house slippers?!". You won't see yourself coming and going with it and it will work with jeans to suits. Very good choice.

Update - I went and looked at the alma on Thursday night and it was really pretty and NOT VVN. It was dyed calfskin and won't patina. Several SA's confirmed that. It was really beautiful with the monogram interior and the gold LV's were on both sides of the bag. But when I took it out of the dustbag I was really underwhelmed. Even at $2000 I would have thought twice about it - let alone that steep $4000 price tag. I have a capucines BB in galet that I love and for that price I would rather buy a mini capucines in black. So I walked away from the bag. Thank you so much for all your feedback and for taking the poll - about 60/40 opinions on the bag with it being too expensive polling higher.
If you can afford it and you love it, sure! Personally, I can't imagine paying $4,000 for something that small (or any handbag), but that's me. It is super cute!
I am glad you made a rational decision. Although it looks amazing in photos, that price tag makes me shudder. I would be ok with it at around $3K considering what leather speedy 22 is going for (and that too is way overpriced imo). Thank you for all your great comments and keeping us in the loop as you decided.

Thank you for the update. I am glad you could see it in person. The photos were very convincingly similar to last year's special edition VVN Speedy, the texture looked identical, that is why I was asking you to be cautious. But I am glad that you could check it out, and also sorry that you found it not nice enough for the price. But you made a good decision.
Just a quick side update. I have seen the bag on Instagram. And WOW, I totally understand OP for not finding it nice enough.

I completely agree. I was underwhelmed seeing it in person. Not worth $4000 that’s for sure. I love my capucines bb and don’t mind spending that amount of money for a bag I love. I am still thinking about getting a mini capucines for that price. This Alma was overpriced by about $1000 in my opinion.

, it looks so different from Rendezvous with monogram metal studs. I think I better don’t get this Alma .It is true that LV photoshopped their official photos, in this case, they made the complexion smooth

The Alma bb I saw didn't have bubbles and didn't look as bad as the photos that Louis.vivienne posted on IG but it just was so - average - in real life. I'm telling you - if it was $2500 I would be.... okay... with it. But at $4k it just wasn't worth it. I rather spend $4,000 on Cartier. But - now I'm obsessing over which handbag I will buy next.

So are you getting a Capucines?
I actually have a store credit but so far I don’t know what to get, because our physical stores here do not get the items that I want fast enough, so I was buying majority from my online CS lately.
I have to be honest I still think it’s beautiful. Yes very expensive but beautiful.
