The long chains double to about 18" so you can wear them long or short. I am not clear on why a short chain would be needed. I love the look of the chain doubled!
I don't like my chain doubled. My hair gets caught in it and the extender part always twists around to be visible in the front. Also, it takes me couple of minutes to double it when I should just switch out the chain in 10 seconds.
Ah, I see. In that case I would just have a similar chain made since I don't think VCA does that. The ebay vendor that makes necklace extenders that are similar (but not exact) might make a long chain. They come in various sizes (3mm, 2.3mm, 1.5mm) so you'd have to figure out what size chain you need. I just don't know if they'll do 18k gold. The 14k works fine as an extender, but I am not sure I'd want the whole necklace 14k with an 18k pendant.
