For that amount of money, I can get my own designer bag if I wait a couple months.

Exactly. Which is why I couldn't get into the site. For the amount they want to rent the bag...last time I checked, it was 150 per month for the bag, plus shipping and handling, and 100 dollars a month for your membership. So you're putting in at least 260 dollars into a bag. If you saved that much for a few months, you could own the bag.

Maybe for people who can't make up their minds this is a good thing. However if you go to the store and try it on, you should have well enough time to make a decision you can stick with.

Yeah. On top of that, the bag you want is not guaranteed to be available. I've read some stuff about that too and people were pretty mad about that.

Sorry for the long post but I thought I would share my experience so far.

If some of you have seen the Gucci forum, I posted about me borrowing a bag from Bag Borrow or Steal.. I am currently trying it out.. At first I thought the bag that I got was fake. I compared it to the ones at the Gucci store and it looked ok so now I am comfortable that it is real..With that out of the way.....There were a few factors that made me decide to try it out / stay with it..

1. I had heard of Bag Borrow or Steal several times over the past 2 years(?) In the beginning they didn't have a selection that is appealing to me but now I think the selection is great.

2. The way I buy and sell bags that I use.. Some bags I fall in love with and then feel nothing about it in a month... So I made a little spreadsheet for myself and did the costs and I thought this might be good thing..Now for my Louis Vuitton and Coach bags, I think I've sold most of them without taking more than a 30% loss of what I paid originally.. With the few Gucci items I've tried to sell, I never got any bids and have received very low offers(with the exception of the one that I just sold) .. I don't think my Gucci's have the same resale value as my LV's and Coach bags. If I borrowed a Gucci bag, I could try it out for a week and see if I really like it and then buy it..If I just bought it outright and used it and tried to sell it on Ebay, I was definitely not getting a decent price on it. So I was thinking I could use BBOS for bags that don't have decent resale values.

3. I like the fact that I can try out a really expensive bag for a week to see if I really like it. Right now I rented this bag.. I really like the bag but Gucci just came out with the smaller version so I am going to return this one and buy the small one from Gucci. I only rented it for the week, which is costing me about $80 including the monthly membership, shipping, insurance and the weekly rental. This is for a $1390 bag.. A bag that I think is too big for me but still nice but now I'm not stuck with it..for $1390. Yes, I paid to rent it but now I know that I would like the smaller version better.

4. Great Customer Service.. I gave the ladies a hard time about the bag not being real and also with the shipping (I asked if I could waive the signature but they can't for certain ones) it shipped quickly but I didn't know I had to sign for the bag..So it got to me later and was eating into my rental time. Because of the shipping delay with me having to be home, they credited my account for $25 which was totally not necessary. Plus the week rental that I had it that I doubted the authenticity, they credited that back to me as well. So now I'm renting it again.

So I did have some minor bumps at first but now it's pretty smooth. I think all the girls know me at BBOS for all the times I called!

It's not for everyone but I like it now that the initial issues are out of the way. I'm looking forward trying out other bags like maybe the Manhattan PM and I also have my eyes out on some Marc Jacobs bags.

I'm still a new member so but this was just my take on it so far..I hope it continues to be good...

^^^ I'm glad you had a good experience with it. It's nice to see that it works for some people. I don't take too long to make a decision. If I'm waivering about a bag, I don't buy it. I go to the store and try it on or if I buy it and I'm not sure about it, I don't use it and just walk around with it in the house. If I don't like it, I return it. That's my strategy. Everyone has a different perspective and I appreciate your point of view. Maybe some others will join BBorS and tell us about their experiences.

Thanks for appreciating my POV.. Like I said, I'm new and it's my first time I rented the bag.. I was really curious so I decided to try it. I can certainly see why some people wouldn't do it...We'll see how it goes.. Maybe I should keep a BBOS Journal :p

^^ You are one of the few that have positive feedback on it and I completely understand why it works for you. I'd hesitate dropping $ on a $1350 bag too and be stuck with it once I don't like it. I tend to be a collector so that will not work for me but it's nice to know that someone's having a good experience with it.

I think that at those kinds of prices...it's utterly ridiculous.

If you're talking $250 a month...hang on to that money..save it up for a few months and you could yourself your OWN amazing designer bag. One that you'll get to keep and will be paid for.

I think that's an awful lot of money to put out every month and have nothing to show for it in the end!
