Large Quilted Shoulder bag?? Quality?

Hi there! New to the forums, sorry if I'm making any mistakes. Just had some question about a few saint laurent bags I was thinking of buying for college. I was looking at this bag right here:

However, I'm concerned about quality. I love the look of the bag, just gonna use it for holding my MacBook Pro, charger, and a water bottle, and interchange it with another bigger bag (which I also haven't decided on yet)

I've been reading and lots of people are also saying how these are bad quality and the black hardware will chip. I do not tend to baby my bags, they end up on the floor all the time, I want something reliable. Would you recommend this? I can also get it in a crocodile embossed version and one in suede with silver hardware.

Also if I was looking at their bold briefcases instead of this, and the large Gucci marmont saddle bag. But this would be considerably less money
