Very sad.....pneumonia for several weeks? sounds like she should have been in the hospital at that point, no? just awful leaving behind all those kid.s
I could go into the reasons why her complaints weren't taken seriously regardless of the amount of money she has but I'm not shocked her condition wasn't treated as seriously as it should have been. One thing about Kim P is that she's always come across as a very doting mother.

You have a good point

Why do you think her complaints weren’t taken seriously?

Did she have any kind of autoimmune disease? It’s not uncommon to die from complications of common flu and pneumonia when you have autoimmune problems.

Anything is possible of course..

but I think the reason is because of what @uhpharm01 posted.Complaints are not taken seriously no matter the level of wealth.

you’re saying she wasn’t taken seriously because of her race?? I don’t buy it. A multi-millionairess isn’t treated the same as the people in that article. She had the means to go to a private Dr. and have private nurses come to her mansion to set up IVs. Not everything is about skin color.
I'm basing it on experience and the actual experiences of millions of others that's led to the most recent "exposure" of a practice that has been happening forever. I'm not saying this is solely on her race but it's widely known that medical complaints are not taken as seriously regardless of the amount of money one has....sometimes people who have wealth are actually worse off because their wealth buys them access to great medical treatment so they don't push when they still know something is wrong. If you have a different experience as a black woman or the black women in your family, please share, I'm open to hearing your experiences.

Oh Im not denying this happens, because it does 1000% BUT I’m highly doubtful that that’s what happened in this scenario. Kim lived a life of luxury and extreme privilege and her experience can’t be compared to that of the average minority.

You don't have to buy it, but you may want to get more educated on it.
There have been reports and studies for MANY years that have delved deep into healthcare disparities for black people compared to others. The studies hit on the point of regardless of your income level, healthcare for black people is far less important than others. That's a fact. The mortality rate among black women is the highest in the country, 3 times higher compared to white mothers. We are turned away at emergency rooms more than others as well.

knowledge is power.

Income level need not apply unfortunately. Overall, women's healthcare isn't taken seriously. How long have women been complaining about severe monthly cramping, feeling physically sick and unable to work but made to suffer silently because the medical profession doesn't take those complaints seriously? It's the same thing but in a concentrated effect is all I'm trying to relay I guess.

ABSOLUTELY 100% RIGHT .. and I saw this when I worked in an ER! White male .. BOOM, right there patient. It also explains why in many cases, women have difficulty getting their birth control paid for by their insurance companies whereas those White men get their Viagra paid for. The sexism/race issue is a big one in Medicine; one of the major reasons why I left Med School .. because not being a meek & mild person, but one who spoke her mind, I got chastised CONSTANTLY for my comments & behavior. Made me sick ..
