Hello!

Hermes just offered me a Kelly 25 in epsom... black with silver. What are your thoughts? Is it a good bag to take?
If you like Epsom, yes.....there's plenty of discussion here on its merits. A noir K25 sellier is definitely a classic bag, and PHW is harder to find with noir in this size.

A good bag for what purpose? It would be useful to know some context. ie the rest of your collection and how you intend to use the bag...
Just in general... sturdy and overall carefree. I have a horseshoe stamp black birkin 30 in chèvre with pink stitching and a Kelly 32 retourne also horseshoe black but with etain piping and interior. All my kellies are togo and retourne. The rest are all bright colors and birkins in togo

What leather would you recommend for a sellier 25?
Since you get SO slots, I'd wait and order chèvre. Chèvre and Togo are my favorite carefree leathers for sellier, and it looks like Togo's no longer available  Box and Sombrero are not carefree. Barenia is, IF IF IF you like the saddle leather look. I LOVE Barenia but, to me, it's not ideal for a sellier 25. I owned one and it was absolutely stunning; I regret letting it go; but I do believe Barenia is best in the kind of bag you throw around. If you do not mind a sellier K getting marks, scratches, patina - then I'd try for Barenia. It will last forever and can even be in rain and snow. (You are very unlikely to see anything but Fauve color, though....)

ALL that said, although everyone knows Epsom is a dealbreaker for me (none of my stores even bother to offer), I had a situation recently where I was looking at a bag and there was a K32 noir Epsom. The woman who was offered it asked my opinion (masked and distanced of course). It WAS really beautiful. I've had this same experience before with noir Epsom bags - I might not take it but I don't think anything is wrong with it. A black Kelly is such a classic, and if you like PHW....25 with PHW would be such a cool bag.

TL;DR: If you can SO chèvre, do that; if not, this is a VERY coveted bag as you know  . If you are a PHW person (and again assuming you can't SO chevre) I'd probably snap it up.

That should fit the bill... an elegant little bag, easy to use.

I used my SO to make a kelly pochette in red and pink . So I would have to wait until next November to see if I get offered another SO and then wait however long it takes. I’m gonna go see it this weekend and see how it goes. I only have one bag in epsom since it’s not in my trip favorite list. It’s a birkin 35 which makes that bag super light. Huge plus. I have a birkin and a Kelly already in chèvre. Stunning leather too. Just hoping corners don’t get beat with epsom on the sellier

I have B30, C24, and E-PM in epsom and they seem to have fared as well as my clemence and togo B/K. I don't baby my bags, but I also don't scrutinize for scratches in general. Epsom bags are lighter in weight, so that's the plus. Overall chevre is still my favorite leather if given a choice.

Are Kellys in box becoming more available? I just visited my local boutique and my SA told me they have received a few Kellys in box this year. Of course she couldn´t say if the would receive one again any time soon but it seemed less unlikely to be offered one than the last time I talked to her about it.

From the most recent offers posted, it seems Paris shipped out a batch of Box bags before Christmas. My SA said it’s still PO and the last one she had seen was in 2019, but I am hopeful they will slightly increase production again as opposed to previous years.

Just to clarify, PO means podium order on the forum, and as far as I know Box are push offers for quota bags? :shrugs:

I've seen both Kelly and Birkin in Box in the past two weeks. They are push offers but they are around :)

I have been offered a few recently, but only in Black. Not sure if it easily available in other colors tbh
