I can't think of a fab handbag design since the late-80s for women, either that's not a close-relative variation of a much older design like the Secret (OK, no one likes it but me :biggrin:). Perhaps, only the DS, which is basically an unstructured shopping bag with reversible as it's big draw.

The KM's depth is just so wide, I don't know whether it even qualifies as a messenger. Somehow, I feel it may be too structured, or just not structured enough.

couldn't agree more. Hermès is not top of the line, creme de la creme, etc. It's just recognizably expensive. (I should put this on the unpopular thread)

I don't even know what the Kelly Messenger is for. Is it a camera bag? A school bag that can carry a lunchbox as well? It's certainly not a business bag since it would look really weird being carried with a suit on. Why does the cinched top look so unpleasant? So many questions that a price tag of $15k doesn't even answer.

It‘s spacious and roomy but I’m undecided end on the design. It’s doesn’t seem to have the classic style of the B/K or the modern feel of the Hac A Dos (Which you can wear sling or crossbody like a backpack). Size Wise, it’s like the GM Hac A dos but a horizontal design who,e the HAD is vertical. They were display only and I it’s still on my wishlist though honestly thought I’d be super excited and wanting it ASAP when I saw it but rather felt meh - $12,800 in Togo - not nearly as much as some had expected. If offered, I’d go see it again - perhaps it will grow on me more …

I don't like the cinched top either, I would've like dit a lot more had it been a structured box shape. That is what I expected from the runway photos. i guess they stuffed the bag in some kind of way, or maybe it's just the angle.

Anyways, this is making me want a kelly danse again, but it seems impossible to get these days.

on the subject of a bag that may serve as a substitute for the Kelly Messenger, I stopped into the Dior boutique on 5th Avenue in NY today and walked out with a saddle soft bag in black calfskin leather (I would describe the leather as the H equivalent of togo) - similar general size, nice slouchy soft leather with a huge central zipped compartment and a large flap pocket on the outside. I loved the design and ease of use (unizip to get into the large compartment and just lift the magnetic flap for the front compartment and really liked the removable handle strap or cross-body strap. I also have a large DIOR backpack that I use for travel and it's held up amazingly well under the rigors of frequent airline travel. For someone who would consider a non-H product (and at 1/3 the price for an all leather luxury bag a good price), this could be a nice alternative. Took it out tonight to dinner and got several compliments too :) https://www.dior.com/en_us/fashion/products/1ADHO023ULC_H00N-saddle-soft-bag-black-grained-calfskin. For me, it was a nice surprise to discover a new bag that I really fell in love with at first sight.

Ok - I was offered the GM in Etoupe and decided to take the plunge. i’m not yet in love with it but enough ‘in like’ that I decided to go for it. It’s a good size between my larger Kelly 40 and my smaller Hac A Dos PM.

It fits my umbrella, my iPad Pro, my small toiletries and I can roll up my light coat inside as well. The Togo leather on the new piece I got is beautiful. I decided it’s a nice size when I am out in the city and take more things with me for the day than I would when I am just in and out of my car often. It’s also pretty slouchy so I could fit it under my seat in a theater or smaller space where it would be harder to store a more structured handbag.

It also says Hermes for those who know but isn’t an obvious Hermes bag that might invite unwanted attention. I stand corrected on some of my earlier negativity LOL
