Congrats!
IMHO you made a really good decision!
I own a Kelly Lakis 40. She is my workhorse (fits in a laptop) and I love how function and beauty are combined.
If I ever have the possibility for a SO I will definitvely go for a Lakis again.
I hope you will be happy with your Lakis!

I heard the bag is quite heavy and not a BIG fan of the design, even the bag is very special and limited, prefer a kelly 28 since there is not much for me to carry around.
It is heavier than a regular Kelly because there is a “liner” of leather that is removable, plus the extra hardware. Also swift leather is quite hefty. The box and toile combos are much lighter. I find the design so very practical for a Kelly. Opening and closing the Kelly hardware takes practice or skill. Neither of which I have seemed to master. :flowers:

Congratulations!! Lakis is such a special special bag. Inspired by you, I also went to IG and look what I found: a bi-color lakis! What a beautiful neutral combo.
Thanks for sharing your search results. This is indeed a beauty. This IG lady has beautiful collectible bags. This canvas leather combo Lakis can be considered a unicorn these days.

Thanks. Very encouraged to hear that your Lakis is a workhorse to fit a laptop too. THAT is the way a Hermes bag should be used I think ... a functional, beautiful, high quality and well-crafted bag which can take some hardy usage.

i am too late to join this thread. Congratulations to your decision in ordering etoupe with GHW.

I am a big fan of lakis and i do not have regular kelly. Like someone has mentioned, the base can be removed and it will be lighter in weight. also the wider strap makes it quite comfortable to wear it on your shoulder. The pockets are so practical. The only setback is that the strap is shorter and you can cross-body to carry it - some dont see it as a problem.

Anyway, the wait begins and hope to see your reveal soon.

Can you share a photo of the liner please? I never knew it existed. No wonder the added weight when I try the bag on. Perhaps one could find a canvas replacement to reduce weight. Thanks so much!

My lakis is my workhorse, I think 35 to 40 it's more practical for a4 and laptop 28 will be look nicer but u will need to be more organised, for the weight issue the shoulder strap does make it more easier and lighter than my other small jelly straps, , I also own a Epsom 32 kelly, I feel the Epsom is heavier than my 35 lakis and it's not easy to open skin the most of them r display now

A couple of quick pics. Many apologies at the poor quality. I don’t rotate bags as much so I had to unbox this one. Here are a few photos of “lighter” straps that I use to cut down on weight. The canvas one I ordered but the maxi twilly has been the best for me.

And here is a profile picture of the liner so you can see how thick it is. Forgot to quote @periogirl28 :blushing:

I think a lakis is a great bag, but I am heavily biased. :P I hope these pics can give you an idea about the weight.:flowers:

Thanks for sharing. The maxi twilly is a good option. Is your beauty an Etain Lakis 32? It is divine and swift seems to get more beautiful with use.

Yes it is Etain! The bag is from 2012 so it’s a few years old. I like the maxi twilly, it’s fun to highlight or contrast with my bag. I can’t wait to see what you decide:flowers:
