Jypsiere 28 or Bolide 31

The Jypsiere. The Bolide looks so ordinary, common, and done. Personally, I think it looks like an old lady bag unless it's the very large travel size. Sorry just speaking my mind. The Jyps will always stay modern looking. I have the original version (34cm in clemence) and it is a bit difficult getting in and out of it once it's all buttoned up. The new version allows one to secure the straps easier instead of threading it thru the loops like the original version...so yea..Jypsiere! Here is mine with the flap tucked in to show off the gorgeous hardware.

I'm sorry, your post made me laugh. The Bolide is "ordinary, common and done"? Yes, the Bolide is probably THE most classic bag. It was created in 1922 and since then many has tried to copy it. Perhaps that is why you think it is common. It certainly isn't common in the sense that they are everywhere. I see a lot more Birkin and Kelly bags than I see Bolide bags.

Anyway, I think the Bolide is utterly classic and elegant. It is classy without being in your face. A bag that doesn't need to scream "look at me" with recognisable hardware or logos.

Anyway, to each their own. That is what makes this forum fun ;)

Thank you for all the input I've received. Photos have been helpful too, thank you!!!
I think it does come down to "which bag first".
I think it comes down to color, too.
I like the Jyps in black (my inner SF and NY) and Bolide in a neutral like gold, taupe or denim for summer.
Thank you again everybody!
Stay tuned...

You might want to add that it was also the very first bag Hermes used a zipper on...matter of fact if memory serves me correctly it was the first handbag to ever have an exposed zipper. The Bolide has great history but, it's "replication" from other houses, and mass production from department stores down the years has cheapened it's lines...so yes..where I live it is very common to see it. Like I said, I like the bag...but in it's very larger proportions. ;)

I thought I wanted a bolide for a long time, but I was so uninspired each time I looked at one. Two weeks ago, however, I asked my SA what colors she had in back. She brought out a DIVINE bleu glacier bolide. I'm a convert.
In the right color and leather, both bags are home runs.

I love my bolides, it was my first H bag investment. I also tried on the jypsiere in a 28 and thought I could use this bag for travel. After thinking it over, I felt the jypsiere was too heavy and inconvenient with the strapping system. These are two very different bags. My bolides also have canvas straps us tom made for them so they are able to be worn cross body for my work day. It sounds like you prefer the jypsiere, so go with your instincts. You can find either bag also on resale sites such as Ann's and Fashionfile. If it were me, I'd choose preowned first before investing in new, as that would allow me to try out a bag to see if I really use it.

You read my mind! The Bolide is truly a classic, but probably best appreciated by those who love the Hermès heritage and are not trying to show off with their bags. But I also love the Jypsière and own both of these lovely bags. Jypsie is more casual and IMO - or maybe it's wishful thinking! - I think you can wear it forever if that's your style. Bolide is elegant and understated and can easily go day-to-night in a small size, e.g. 31. Adding twillies or a charm adds some personality. For versatility, though, I would vote Bolide -- also very easy to carry and easier to get in and out of. Either way, you can't go wrong and I think you might need both!! :-)

Hi everyone!
Quick question- Anyone who owns a Jypsiere, do you worry at all about the glazing across the top or at the bottom on the back side where it rubs against clothing? Any cracking or major glaze wear and tear?
Thank you!

Both are nice, but I go for Jypsiere. Love the style, it looks like the birkin and Kelly. Functionality, I usually use it on travels  Travelling in style
I think the "Kelly/Birkin" hardware is what draws me to this bag. In addition to this simplistic classic, yet casual look, I don't see any where I live.
The Bolide has lots of room, great clean design and great colors. The only thing is, Kate Spade, Dooney & Burke, LV Alma and other similar designs are everywhere.
I'm just a little nervous, about having soooooo much glaze, because I've had several glazing issues with old LV bags.
The Bolide has very little exposed edge/seam glazing.
