There is a similar thing that Hermès did many decades ago which is the Passe-Guide:

But yeah, I think the Diane is a much nicer, modern improvement on that:

I especially like it with palladium hardware because it's like a mirror brace

They're both versions of an old style (traditional) cartridge (hunting) bag that had a brass frame. If I find a vintage example I will post. The reason for the brass all the way under the gusset is because of the weight of the old cartridges.

Did anyone else get this email today?
Very exciting for California clients, sadly, this is not me....but, if anyone goes will you please post pictures and info!!
I did not get this invite which, to be honest, irritates me. I have had both a one-on-one virtual meeting and been to their shop in Paris, and I am on their email lists (both personal and general), yet still did not receive. And I am in the market for a new bag. Maybe I am not a big enough spender (though I have the means to purchase any one of their bags). I emailed them and asked to be invited. If they decline, I will need to take my $$$ elsewhere. Sigh....

Are you in the States? I would imagine the email went to clients based in the US who have made a purchase within the last 12-18 months? If this is you, then perhaps it went to your junk folder or they have the wrong email for you

Also I believe this is executed by their PR Company, not JD. Mistakes have been made with their email invites for prior events, so if it’s not in your junk folder I suggest email JD and ask for an invite.

Thanks all for hearing my frustration, I should probably have kept it to myself. That said, I have had email conversations with them in the past so I know they have my information (my email signature also states where I work which is a company known for being in LA). I am in Los Angeles and actually going to an event tonight at the Hilton which is next door to the Waldorf Astoria...LOL. We'll see if they write back. I am just a little flabbergasted wondering who their clients are, unless they are only catering to people who have already purchased from them, as I have made it so clear I am interested in a bag and anything new coming up. Perhaps I am being unreasonable.

My invite went directly to spam.:whut: Check out your spam folder.

Pls post pictures when you go.

On a different note, I was at Bergdorf today and complimented this guy on his outfit (he had a blue jacket paired with orange pleated pants - excellent combo on him). In turn, he complimented my Duclos bag. I was shocked that he was aware of the brand - but very happy that it was getting traction within the very sassy chic crowd! (Of which I am definitely not!)

If someone is interested how this brand was created, branding and advertising agency BRAT still has a plenty of prototypes made for Joseph Duclos in 2021, including bags, logos, monograms etc.
We were commissioned to research and develop the first derivative of a comprehensive brand system and the revival of the historic heritage. We had to establish not only the visual references for possible future marketing material but also the physical product development such as handbag fixtures and other iconic brand elements.
