I thought the all-black was a lizard skin… was there a croc as well ?
The all-black lizard skin Diane L20 (with an orange underside) appeared earlier this year, in collaboration with an artist.

The all-black croc Diane Clutch first appeared alongside the WWD article about JD, if I’m not mistaken. There’s a screenshot of it a few pages back on this thread.

The Diane L20 in Châtaignier with a noticeable patina
This is probably from the window display since the patina looks one-sided and slightly diagonal

I couldn't help but imagine this would look so great with contrast stitching (and palladium hardware), since tonal stitching is starting to look lighter anyway where the bag darkened. But that's just me :P

I watched a BFM Business YouTube video clip with Franck Dahan, Président directeur général de la Maison Joseph Duclos. A few bags were shown in the background. Somehow, last spring, I missed this matte lizard mini Pochette Saint-Clair. Very nice indeed.:girlsigh:
@allanrvj, I browsed this thread last night and noticed I missed a page of posts. At the page’s bottom was your reference to the BFM Business video. Thank you for posting about the video and the screenshot of the Diane. I don’t know if the video happened to appear on your YouTube feed, too, or if you follow BFM Business. Regardless of how we saw it, I hope you enjoyed it.

I was searching for any video related to JD (unboxing, review, etc) and for some reason that was included in the search results. I'm glad there is an option to translate the transcript of the video, so I kind of had the gist on what they were talking about.

I had my zoom meeting with JD this morning. The SA (going to protect her privacy by not posting her name here) showed me two bags, one I need (tote) and one I love (handbag). I will be there in December to see them in person and pick one up. She was lovely and professional (I was in my jammies and had crazy hair and no makeup as it was an early call). I am so excited about the bags. Would love to hear thoughts on which one you would get for an everyday bag. I know it's a personal choice, but would still like to hear thoughts. Attaching pictures of the two options in the colors I really love.

Personally I'd get a Diane (L26 is my pick) because I'm not into totes. So that would be an everyday bag for me. I like that it has a handle and a strap option, so that when I need my hands free I can just wear it crossbody. I don't carry much.

Also I realized, the Diane is way better than a Kelly because you can fully open the bag without any difficulty. Unlike a Kelly, especially an epsom one, where you have to struggle because the flap is very stiff. You only need one hand to open a Diane, while you probably need two to open a Kelly. Also the Diane closes easily and fully, unlike a lot of Kellys that we see being carried like Fendi Peekaboos because they can't be bothered to close it.

I also love that the Diane has a deep base. So comparing a Diane L20 to a Mini Kelly (that is also 20 cm wide), it seems that the Diane has more capacity.

So yeah. Diane :D

Both are lovely but quite different (dressy/preppy and the other very casual).

I’d pick the Diane because it has so many unique and interesting details which I associate strongly with Ramesh (mainly unique and intricate hardware).

The Diane. The Duclos-factor incremental specialness of it is much higher than the tote (the tote is lovely, but it's a tote, ya know?)

(If one is INTO totes to the exclusion of regular bags I would give a different answer, but since you are considering both I'm guessing that's not you.)

Two different looks. Two different capacities. Two different price points.

If your looking at carrying everything, including the kitchen sink, the Lectoure tote is your bag. I’ve seen one irl. It’s lovely, beautifully made, and quite roomy. The base is not structured, so it sags from your items’ weight — an insert might help. And though it can be worn on the shoulder, it’s a little awkward given its stiff, smooth leather, rounded handles. I’m crossing my fingers for a pm-sized Lectoure tote to come out some day. I might be waiting forever, but I can dream.:girlsigh:

I haven’t seen the Diane in person, but I want one. If you’re looking for a ‘purse’, the Diane is a beautiful choice. The green is a lovely jewel tone! I don’t know if you were told this, but I was informed that the online dimensions are the outside measurements of the bag. Because their measurements include the little lip that goes around the bag, take away two to three cm in length and one to 1.5cm in height. I’m always creating paper mock-ups of potential bags, so I contacted JD about accurate length x depth x width, and that’s what I was told.

I’m excited for you! Please share photos.:flowers:

I really like the JD tote bags. I think they did a great job creating something familiar and unique at the same time. I'm torn between whether I like the horizontal or vertical bags better. Today's Instagram has a nice video of the bleu riviere vertical tote in action.

Thank you everyone for your input. (This is why I asked you all as I knew I would get sensible advice here). I am going with the Diane. It literally makes no sense to buy an everyday tote when I have "15" of them already (I'll buy the tote later next year), and not get the Diane which is so special and beautiful. And for once, price is not an issue as this is a milestone birthday gift for myself. I am not going until December so won't be posting any pictures until then. The SA is looking at inventory for me so we can be sure "my" bag will be there when I arrive. Again, thank you all!
