After chasing down DHL she’s finally here!! I just can’t get over the smell and feel of the leather, the stitching, and the immaculate hardware. It is so comfortable to hold and wear and I love the thickness of the strap. It fits all I need (pictured plus lipstick/phone/keys can be squeezed) and I can’t wait to take it out. Bummed that customs opened it before I did and the ribbon was off etc. also I noticed a few faint marks on the inner body and under flap- not sure if it was customs or from the glazing process or sth… I tried to rub off gently with my finger but it’s not moving. I emailed about it to see what I should do to rub it out if possible. But honestly they are so faint and unnoticeable I don’t really want to send it back to replace. Would love to see more additions to the st Clair line

the stitching is IMMACULATE <3

I wouldn't fuss about the markings on the leather. it's in the same family as barenia leather (i.e. veg tanned, full grain, no finishing, patina over time, etc) so all the imperfections it has will blend in nicely as time goes on. enjoy your pretty, new bag!

@Purseperson420 - their customer service is top notch, it is likely they could offer to swap the bag out for you. They take quality control very seriously but my L26 was delivered scratched up like a cat had visited the box for a nap! DHL customs had essentially created a "used" bag - Duclos CS immediately reshipped me a new bag, and sent a return label for the damaged bag only after I had received the new Diane which was delivered in perfect condition

Has anyone here from the US ever ordered from overseas an exotic bag (like lizard?). I've been contemplating a SO of the matte black lizard but I'm fearful of US customs... and the stories here of how normal leather bags are treated are quite frightening!

Can you time a trip and go to Paris to pick it up? Hugs

They use a special carrier for exotics, it is a white glove service - they do not use DHL

I'm more concerned about US customs rather than DHL ... though I suppose both could be responsible for opening packages and ruining goods...
For exotics they use a special international courier service, items are handled differently. You can email them for the specifics but I was told it is a white glove service and items are not "damaged" by customs

Wow so great to know, thank you!! I did email to see what they say for sure. I would feel bad replacing it for such small marks I don’t even see upon regular use or in all lighting. Your scratch marks from customs sound awful I’m sorry that happened!! But again so great about their customer service :flowers:

Why, oh, why did I have to come across this post?!? I've just spent the better part of the last half hour reading through all 46 pages, and drooling over all the pictures here and on the Joseph Duclos website. I'm completely enamored of the Diane messenger bag in a way I haven't been with any other bag in a very long time.

Congratulations to all of you who have already added one of these stunning pieces to your collection! I can't wait to see more pictures of your beauties while I wait to add one to my own closet.

Thank you! I must say that I audibly gasped when I saw your beautiful red messenger. It's an absolute stunner!
Thank you! I must say the Diane was a complete "no brainer" when I visited the maison. I am looking forward to going back later this year - hopefully something new will join her.

The Heritage leather is really amazing and I love the patina that has developed.
