The St Clair clutch increased ~$300 this week. Has anyone had any long term experience with this leather?
Unfortunately no, not long term experience. looks like it will scratch quite easily right? Which clutch r u looking at: mini clutch or clutch bag? I'm eyeing the bigger clutch bag but that little gap on the sides of the bag makes me think things will fall from it. I like both. I grabbed st clair messenger bag this year before another price increase. If chanel-blah-quality flap bags have reached 10,000+, i mean, JD has to catch up a little bit right? according to the JD SA or the manager, prices will keep going up. i wish this wasn't the case but i can understand why. Else JD will have to sell out like Moynat and recently, Moreau, did to sustain. and has anyone seen the new Moreau stitching/design etc? Yuckkkk it's so bad and it's sad. I hope JD will never get bought out but it might who knows. So it seems like it is smart to buy bags from small heritage brands like JD, Moreau (RIP), Moynat (RIP) before money takes over quality etc. Just my 2 cents ♥️

Is there any news on new styles being released this fall? I will be in Paris later this year and want to buy a JD bag, but looking for something that is closer to a Birkin style than a Kelly. Thanks for any info. (Love JD so much, can't wait to go into the showroom and see everything!)

I ordered two pieces from Joseph Duclos and am so excited to receive my new lectoure cardholder in sonate leather in the colour brume. The leather is supple and smells divine! I can tell the craftsmanship upon holding it and can’t wait to use it! I initially was a little bothered that the hotstamping I had on the back is slightly off centre… but reminded myself it’s all handmade and just to enjoy it. The packaging is gorgeous and I am really impressed.

The other item I ordered I’ve been obsessing over is the mini st Clair clutch in ardoise! I purchased it on preorder and is being made now (so cool almost like a “special order” bag being made for me). I ordered before the price increase as well. I asked about the rain and they said it won’t get ruined by little sprinkles but not to prolong it in a lot of rain or it may strip the oils. I assume it will scratch some and I will try not to freak out over little scratches and just appreciate the natural leather. I also asked about up coming releases- the sales rep said they don’t have any news of new releases the rest of this year (but usually have 2 per year) and the next one will be early next year! Can’t wait to see it!

Will post when I receive the mini st Clair clutch- I know there are photos from others already but there is are little photos of the brand already hope to add more !

Darling lectoure cardholder! And thank you for the update on the new bags. So next year huh...I'll be there late this year, so maybe they will have some items in the showroom a bit early. Either way going home with a JD item.

As you can see there is a gap but since the bag is taller, things shouldn’t fall out hopefully. I’m still currently deciding whether or not I’ll keep it as that is also a concern of mine.

I wouldn’t expect anything to fall out of there. Unless you are riding an upside down rollercoaster?

oooooooooo miss st clair in black with contrast stitching. LOVE it. anddd thank you. very sweet of you to share.
Thank you! The only thing is is that the closure simply just slides into the closure but doesn’t lock in any way. Sometimes when I’m walking it does open if I happen to squeeze the bag as it’s quite stiff. Sorry if I am not explaining it correctly.

I dont think you need to worry about stuff falling out, unless the whole bag lands on its head upside down, in which case any bag that doesnt have a zipped closure is likely to spill stuff.
i have a St Clair (the original messenger) with the soft flap, it was a concern of mine too. Recently I was on a road trip where I couldnt be too precious about my bag ;) and it often ended up upside down on the back seat while I drove and someone would then hand it to me upside down! I was annoyed about that but really pleased that nothing fell out even with a soft unstructured flap.

6 month update on my Diane L20 Heritage noir leather. My thoughts remain pretty much the same- quality and craftsmanship are top tier. No complaints. The heritage leather is aging beautifully and most light scratches can be “massaged” to blend into the patina. Hardware still sparkles and looks brand new! I haven’t babied this bag either and been caught in bad weather with no issues.

My Bleu de Cocagne has been taken out a just handful of times.. only because I find the noir easier to style. But no regrets. I would definitely purchase another color in this leather and hope to add an exotic version someday:heart:

If you’ve been thinking about this bag and educated on the leather, I highly recommend adding one to your collection. :flowers:

Thank you for such a helpful review on the wear of your Diane bags. I’ve been debating whether to take the plunge and have searches high and low for any insights into how the bag wears over time, so this was great! Would be curious to see how the patina and wear looks on the blue over time. I’m contemplating the châtaignier color (cognac).
