Hello
do you find JD heritage leather adds a casual vibe to Diane? I'm talking about Diane bag which has been worn (not brand new).

As learned from reading this thread, patina develops with time and there is no much correlation with usage of the bag? Is it correct?

It fits plenty surprisingly! My mobile (samsung s24 ultra), overstuffed card case, ear pods, small bottle of alcohol spray, keys, pack of tissue, lipgloss, and an extra foldable eco bag ❤️ it's the same size as the original saint clair ❤️
Thanks so much for this info! I’ve been off the forum for a while, so apologies if I missed this info - can anyone speak on the capacity of the new Saint Clair vs Diane Messenger? I believe the new Saint Clair is a bit smaller than the Diane Messenger, correct?

PS for East Coasters - I recently asked and no showcase planned for New York at this time.

I wanted to share my experience with Joseph Duclos after care / repairs services, if it may be of help to anyone. I purchased the Diane Messenger in January and in only one week, the bag fell outside on the ground. (If you buy the Messenger, the O-Rings on the sides are NOT optional. They are technically removable but do NOT remove the O-rings or the strap can detach from the bag.)

There was some scratching to the front of the bag and one of the strap clasps. After discussing with the SA, they agreed to have the bag assessed at their atelier for repairs.

The SA arranged for complimentary return shipping and the package to be picked up at my house. I was informed of repairs progress every step of the way - communication was very clear and frequent. In the end, the main clasp was replaced, the strap clasp was repaired and the leather was spa-ed to remove superficial scrapes. The entire process took only 6 weeks!

Overall, Joseph Duclos provides exceptional after care services and stands behind their product. I am very, very happy with my experiences. Hope this helps someone! ❤️

Hi, its a combination of time and use. Heritage leather (any natural leather, but especially novo nappa) will continue to evolve all through its life.
If you go back in the thread, there are several discussions about patina.

I have both bags you mentioned. The capacity is pretty much the same, but the organization inside the bags is different because their shapes are different.
The St Clair has a broad base so its deep, but shorter and more compact than the Diane. I can put a slim notebook inside my Diane but not in the St Clair, but I find it easier to fit 2 pairs of glasses inside the St Clair along with all my regular stuff (wallet, hand sanitizer, keys etc). The Diane is larger length & breadth wise, but slimmer in depth.

Thanks for this; I appreciate all of the shared IRL experiences with these bags. :flowers: My paper mock bag construction skills don’t seem to be up to the task!

Hello everyone !
I’d like some advice, please. Also, I’m sorry about my poor quality of English,
it’s not my first language.

I don’t have a bag collection and my first luxury purchase was Diane L 20 in heritage. I’m trying to use it as a daily bag. Working from home helps to minimize that daily use.

Would getting a Diane clutch be a next logical step to build a collection? If yes, In your opinion, is Diane clutch worth the price point? If no, what other pieces from JD would you advise?

Using Diane bag in heritage on a daily basis, will it ‘kill’ the bag considering there is no bag rotation at this point?

Clearly my silly questions reflect my ‘bagless’ status 😀

Thank you very much!

Hi, welcome!

First question, what do you love about l20 and what do you wish was different?

At first thought, I think you’d love a Diane messenger or L26 for daily, save the 20 for evenings?

I totally love my Diane L20 as is. It’s probably too small for most people but it fits all I need. I used to have a bigger bag and carry more when I used to work in the office. But now, I only have a credit card case, keys, phone and a lipstick in my purse. I do agree that Diane L20 can easily be a day to night bag.
Maybe Diane clutch is a little redundant because there are too many similarities with Diane L20?

I absolutely love Diane collection and appreciate all JD creations!

And thank you and all for sharing your thoughts and ideas on this thread. Im learning a lot!

SHE'S HERE! My Diane Messenger in Châtaignier has arrived! I'll be posting more as I use the bag, but wanted to provide my initial experience and photos in case it's helpful for anyone.

ORDER & DELIVERY PROCESS:
I ordered 27 Dec 2023. At time of ordering, the website stated to expect a 3-6 month wait. I received my bag 21 Apr 2024, so roughly 4 months.

The bag got held up at customs in the US. DHL had to reach out to me for my SSN and a supporting IRS document for SSN verification in order to release the bag. JD customer service also reached out to me directly to know of this DHL request (in case I had missed it) and confirmed that it was legitimate. After researching and confirming on my own that indeed Customs needs your SSN for any imports over $2500 for tax purposes, and confirming with DHL directly that this was indeed their standard DHL process, I provided my information. I did not have to pay any additional duties or fees because it was already incorporated in my purchase when I bought the bag.

JD also reached out as soon as I had received my bag to ask me how delivery went and if the bag met my expectations.

UNBOXING:
If you've seen Lula's video on YouTube on her unboxing, mine was pretty similar - only differences were that my brown shipment box was way closer in size to the Joseph duclos box (likely nearly the same size) and I did not get the ceramic ornament she did (but I wasn't interested in that anyway).

I attached photos of what the bag looked like fresh from the box.

MEASUREMENTS:
I have also included photos with measuring tape for those of us who like to make prototype bags before we buy  I would say the bag is 11 inches wide, 7 inches tall, and 2.5 inches deep on the side and allllmost 2.75 inches wide on the bottom. I couldn't snap a good photo of measuring the strap at its max, but I would say it's 47 inches if you measure from tip of the hardware clip to the end of the other clip, but you also want to include the rings you clip the strap to on the bag, so I would use a measurement of 47.5 inches to estimate what the max strap would feel like on your body.

The strap set at the longest length is PERFECT for crossbody for me. The top of the bag hits just at the same point as the top of my jeans. I was a bit worried since I'm a huskier gal (size 10-12) and thus I can't typically trust that a crossbody on a size 4 will hit the same way on me.

GENERAL IMPRESSION:
Yup, this bag scratches easily - and I'm not mad about it. It buffs out relatively easy with your fingers if you really care about it, but I feel like the stratches are going to be part of the bag's character and charm for me. It's the kind of leather that I wanted. The smell is divine, the structure is solid, and the color is better in person than I hoped. It is sort of chameleon in a way - most of the time it is the darker color that I was hoping it would be, but in direct sunlight could be seen as a bit brighter of a brown. I'm really excited for the leather to patina and color over time.

All in all, quite pleased!
