Of course! But it's always fun for me to see what's trendy and what everyone is wearing

The last time I visibly saw a trend in jewelry and accessories was when I was in school. For example, in middle school, everyone, including me, wore a black choker (haha) and I remember seeing other trends in high school and college. It's where we're surrounded by our peers of similar ages in a much more concentrated environment that we see and notice what is hot or popular.

Post-college/grad school adult life is very different. I don't think the majority of us go socialize with our peers and friends on a frequent or even regular basis. Most of us work or have families and rarely go out.
I look at teenagers and college kids on the street and think...wow, so this is the thing now eh? :P

Social media does gives us a lot of info, but I think it tends to be skewed a lot with influencers and the brands they work with; so that may not depict reality. But maybe show the popularity of the trend at that point in time.

But this is just me think-typing out loud. Just some food for thought!

agree with @Pevi that watching adults picking up kids at school can yield a lot of info re fashion trends. i half raised my adopted step brother and saw a lot of moms (from second grade through six years of college). When he was in second grade, moms all had Tods bags and wore platinum or WG diamonds. By the time he graduated HS, I think his female HS classmates were raiding their moms closets for premier designer LV, Goyard, and ballet flats or being gifted their own. i would sometimes look and say to myself, okay X is in style

@Cosmopolitan, I just discovered Foundrae last month, so I am a really late adapter lol. (But my only social media is TPF)

That is a very interesting topic  cannot but add my 5 cents

If we judge trends by what brands and influencers push, I’d say that the stacks are still big, and the pieces being stacked are getting chunkier, or a mix of chunky and dainty. Stacking is a lot about making jewelry more personalized even if you purchase from several well known brands.

As per more particular trends, I’d say it’s a lot about stones these days. Widely using stones like morganite, malachite, carnelian and more rare ones in fine jewelry became common not so long ago in my view, but it is to stay for long probably.
I also see many short term “demi-fine” jewelry trends. I.e. at the moment there are a lot of enamel pieces, “wabi-sabi” pieces with handmade feel to it.

What people wear in their majority in fact, as you all say is a different story. They wear a lot of basics and reach out for statement pieces that can be either bold jewelry, costume jewelry or branded jewelry. Watches are clearly losing popularity.

I believe that stacking will be forever popular, as jewelry, even demi-fine, in many cases are pieces with sentimental value. This “amulet” concept is pretty much “in your face”, but its idea is clear - people love collecting memories and having them on. Like Pandora was super popular - with more expensive pieces is just works in slightly different ways.

Congrats on your pieces! Foundrae makes beautiful, substantial jewelry. They exploded onto the scene around 2015-2016 and deserve a lot of credit for quickly becoming wildly successful at the forefront of the amulet trend. If you haven’t already, check out the “Press” section of their website where they compile all their mentions in major publications the past five years or so. I doubt their brand will burn out quickly. I think it will have longevity. Yellow gold is not my thing but I’d be tempted if it was.

Thank you! another Reason I bought the oversized mixed chain and four pendants was because I wanted a substantial chain to use for my own pendants (esp, an antique vintage aquamarine one that I almost never wear bc it’s on a strand of similar aquamarines and a torso pendant that’s heavy). I liked the idea of mixing different combos together.

so yes, chunky is in, but I wore it when it wasn’t. @papertiger mentioned pearls, I have a lot, but the ones she meant were semi baroque freshwater on white gold chain that my independent jeweler customized for me.

This is what I’ve been seeing:

Tennis necklaces/bracelets are trendy right now, along with snake/herringbone “liquid gold” chains. Rose gold is classic but stopped being trendy years ago, yellow gold is popular, but silver is making more of a comeback lately too, especially chunky styles. Also big baroque pearls have been in style. A lot of nineties and oughties trends have become cool again in the past couple of years (see the herringbone chains, name necklaces, choker/collar, heart pendant necklaces). I’ve seen tons of paperclip chains for a few years but honestly think it’s become so overplayed that it will be over like rose gold sooner than later.

Sorry if this is off-topic, but as a quick sidebar I changed my earring backs to the “Chrysmela catch“ style and my diamond studs have *never* come off during the recurring strap action from masking/unmasking -- not sponsored or affiliated in any way but these backs have allowed me to wear my studs without anxiety and they are relatively inexpensive for that peace of mind. I just wanted to mention them in case it is helpful to anyone!

I second this recommendation and was about to type about this too before reading your post! :D

Also seeing 80s/90s earrings on the super trendy, like big button earrings, wide shrimp-style hoops, door-knocker earrings

They've been threatening to trend for a while (extra brownie points for Chanel) as have those oversize large 'couture' earrings (very YSL and Lacroix). Yet to see them on the street though - or maybe people are saving them for evening.

Your Foundrae pieces are incredible. That and Fope are my dream jewelry. I would say the Foundrae style is in now, but they are forever pieces.
