Hi ladies, I have a tricky question. Last week, I went to the gym. I didn't bother putting on my jewelry before going, but I packed it. After my shower, I found my bracelets and only one earring, so I figured I had missed the second one while packing. However, back home, I couldn't find it.
Now, this is a discontinued Tiffany pair, my all-time favorite, and I wear it so much that when I lost one earring a few years ago, I tracked a second pair. So I had 3, which means I'm down to a complete pair with no back-up.
3 days later, I went back to the gym, asked about it, and the front desk girl told me they had found my earring! She went to get it, and came saying that actually, she put it in her pocket to bring to the office and forgot about it. And washed her pants. She went through all her laundry, washer, hamper... and couldn't find my earring. She left me a message, and asked me to tell if there is anything they can do to replace it.
I'm kind of conflicted. I did lost it in the first place, but they found it. And I still have a pair, but I was quite glad to have a backup. And I looked on ebay, the pair is sold around $250 to $300. So I'm wondering if it would be a mistake to just drop the whole thing. Well, actually, I wouldn't have spent so much time thinking about it if she had told me nobody found it!

I would drop it. Like you said, you lost it in the first place. You have a pair & a spare in case you lose another one.

At least she was honest to tell you the truth...anyway can you just let it go? But if it bothers you a lot maybe you can let her buy the pair from ebay anyway she offered to replace it.

I am on a budget (<1000 GBP) and I am looking for a necklace to give to my wife. I fell in love with this item: http://www.beaverbrooks.co.uk/01005...ist-9ct-White-and-Rose-Gold-Diamond-Pendant/p
Call it not very imaginative but I think it's lovely. However, a relative of mine who is very passionate about jewelry, and very competent, told me the price is scammy, and the item should cost half that price (her words).
If I can't trust high street jewellers where should I go? Do you agree that Beaverbrooks thing is a scam?

Please help me:sos:

I don't think it is scammy. It seems perhaps a bit pricey for 9ct gold. I think it's lovely and unique looking, though you will always pay more at a chain jewelry store. Since I am in the USA I can't offer any other suggestions except maybe your relative can steer you toward an independent jewelry store that she has experience buying from. They tend to have better prices. Maybe someone in the UK can chime in. Good luck.

Beaverbrooks has a solid reputation but I agree with megt10 that it's pricey for 9ct gold. I find some of the pawn shops in the UK are a treasure trove for unique pieces at good prices. And a lot of their pieces come from people who are fed up of a piece and want to use the cash towards another, if that's something that concerns you. Why don't you look around in some of those? You'll get a lot more bang for your buck.

^^hi there! Nice seeing you here!

And hi everyone, this is my first post on this thread though I occasionally browse for the eye candy:) Just wanted to share my newest purchase. Actually, it's a gift from my husband for the upcoming birth of our second child :)

It's the bangle on the right (I returned the one of the left). Thx for letting me share!
