Sooooo, is it ok to be slightly annoyed that I saw another Mom at ballet with my watch in my size? I know Cartier didn't tell me it was one of a kind, but.... you know, pout pout? :pout:

I need to go make guacamole, but I'd rather be here on TPF and FB!

Totally normal! It's your new toy and it was special and you love it! We all feel this way sometimes. It's almost like you feel it's less unique because you saw another person have it. But no worries! Just enjoy it!

And it looks fabulous... I mean, look at your left arm right now and you can't tell me you aren't smiling! I'm sure the other mom was staring at your arm too thinking and who knows, maybe she was thinking "wow! we have the same watch and even in the same size. It's so pretty!.. too bad I dont have that love bracelet. I need one!" hehe (that's what I would be thinking)

Please pass some gauc when you are done please.... yum!

grr I hate when I hear things like that, people can be so disrespectful... whenever I have people over I dont know I hide my jewellery box under my bed LOL.
luckily i'm not in my boss's jewellery stores I work for his watch company in advertising but still theres always gemstones and semi mounts and diamonds floating around the custom jewellery workshop in the other half of the office! and whenever i'm visiting clients its always in jewellery stores and then they are always offering huge discounts as well!! I cant win!!

People at parties can be downright nosy, as well. My safe was once hubby's gun safe (he has since sold the guns, so he didn't need a gun safe--his loss was my gain! :D). When we first moved in, he put it around the corner from the foyer, in the living room. I was nervous about it being so obvious (there's huge bay window, close to a busy street, where we have a lot of foot traffic). I put a folding screen in front of it. Can you believe that neighbors actually would say, "Oh, what's behind there?", and then walk around the screen to see what was behind it, without even asking first? Needless to say, it's no longer where people can see it! (These same people also once took their kids upstairs, without asking us, because their kids wanted to see what was up there.) And hubby wonders why I lock up the handgun I keep in a drawer (for self-defense) when kids come over!

You really should watch your guests in your house. People sometimes do snoop, if not outright steal. I don't even leave financial info lying around. This reminds me of another story: I know someone whose daughter once had a boyfriend who would visit her and her parents a lot. It seems he would mine financial info, and went on to cause them a ton of financial trouble using it. Took them years to get it straightened out.

As much as my dream job is to work in a jewelry store, it's probably better I don't--I'd better be able to pay my electric bill in amethysts...:-)

Yes, I really do love that whole arm, lol! I really don't have that many pieces, but I love each one to BITS.

This is one more reason I know we would have so much fun together, :graucho:!

I'm sure you wear it better than her, so it will never be the same lol

Yep very nosy. I have ppl over at my home very often. I give a dinner party once a week, and add some impromptu gatherings in the mix of ppl showing up out of the blue.
I can't count the times ppl open my cupboards, and fridge and snooping in drawers without permission. I guess they are just curious and nosy but it really bugs me. I keep my bedroom door closed and locked so they can't get in, they only snoop through the rest of the apt.
I have a special cabinet for all important paper that is locked, precisely for this, I don't want ppl to know financial things.

Lol working for a jeweler is both a treat and a bit of a pain. I was so happy working for the particular boss, he was a friend of my parents I knew since little so I was very comfortable with him and his wife, we would even make margaritas after closing time and put on music and talk for hours together, they were really nice ppl. His wife was a gemologist from Belgium, she was a fountain of knowledge. Through them I got to meet a lot of ppl and companies in the jewelry business and it saved me a lot of money in the long run, because I was educated from a young age.

The best part is wearing the best jewels in the store everyday!
But it is addictive lol
I'm "up" for the Margaritas!
That makes it a party!:D

I wear it everyday with my watch. I've worn this combo for years, that's why I feel so naked! LOL!
WG, so the jeweler is going to rhodium re-plate/coat. I never even asked, they are very good to me.
oh how gorgeous!!!!!!!!!! thanks for the eye candy

I know i'm thinking so also!! the spinel is in toronto...I hopefully will have it early next week :D
^so excited...can't wait til you get it!

I would love a 2-4 carat tennis bracelet for everyday wear, I might ask my boss (he owns jewellery stores) to see if he can give me a good price:graucho:
^niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice

^ It was supposed to be a small gathering that got out of hand, I was 20 yo at the time and naive about ppl. They struck me as skunks immediately, but I didn't want to be a party pooper. I learned my lesson after that. Now I have a safe :)
^ditto! my safe is my best friend...next to my accountant :graucho:

F&F - Do you have any hotel recommendations for Ft. Lauderdale? We stayed at the Westin last year, and I loved the pool and the proximity to the beach, but I'm open to options! I don't think we'd want to go more expensive than the Westin though.

I loooooooooooove the marriott harbor beach. I think it's the best hotel on the beach. they keep doing renovations too, so I think the rooms have been re-done.

then there's lago mar. we are members of the beach club there (have been since I was a kid). it's a smaller, low-rise hotel. it's more like a resort than a hotel in my mind. it would be my first choice, marriott harbor beach is my 2nd.
