Jessica Simpson’s mother gave Jess a verbal smackdown after her “embarrassing” rendition of “9 to 5″ in front of Dolly Parton and President Bush at the Kennedy Center Honors last weekend, telling her that she should get out of the business if she doesn’t want to put in the work.​

Sources tell TMZ that Tina Simpson was furious with Jess after she flubbed lyrics, stood statue-still on stage while trying to hold her dress up, and then awkwardly hurried off with a few mumbled words to Parton. Tina told her daughter that the performance was “embarrassing” and “unprofessional,” and mom was further incensed because Jessica had missed a dress rehearsal and hadn’t adequately learned lyrics to the song — which necessitated cue cards at the front of the stage. Jessica can be clearly seen reading from the cards during her performance.
Curiously, Jessica’s dad, Joe, wasn’t undone by the snafu, according to Planet Gossip’s Marc Malkin. Joe didn’t feel there was any need to reshoot the performance, calling it “cute,” but show producers, reports Malkin, begged Joe to have Jess do it again, without anyone in the audience. “We almost cut her out of the [CBS] show,” says a source.
Jessica’s reps have blamed the mishap on nerves. -tmz.com

Wow Jessica's mom is a B****! I'm sorry if my daughter screwed up, I wouldn't suck up to anybody else, I would instead try and make my daughter feel better, tell her she should've practiced, and by NO means let the media know that I was upset with her. Stupid, parents should stand up for their kids!

And that's my two cents :P

I am a fan of Jessica, but, like Megs said, she is a professsional singer and she has performed in front of Large audiences, and she had to use cue cards?? It's her job. Of course I'd be nervous with all those important people there, but she's been doing this for years...

I read the story that Prada's Meadow posted--maybe if Jessica had rehearsed like she was supposed to, and not rely on cue cards, the entire thing would have gone better. I understand nerves, but not lack of preparation. That's unprofessional.

To me, she's a breathy singer and when she goes for the really high notes it sounds like she's straining. As much as she'd like to, she can't do the Mariah / Christina really high note.

Her mom is always seen nagging her on her professional life. Have you watched the newley weds? there is numerous times where tina has interfered and told jess that shes isnt behaving professionally. I think since her JOB is to perform and SHE HAS CHOSEN to live this life, she needs to put in the work and practice.

Jessica Simpson Plans Future Plastic Surgery

Jessica Simpson wants to have a boob job - if her breasts sag when she gets older.

The actress-and-singer, famed for her stunning figure, admits she would have no problem going under the surgeon's knife if the ageing process started taking its toll on her body.

Jessica, 26, told Britain's More magazine: "If my boobs ended up hanging round my waist, then I'd definitely get them pulled up!"

Although she would be willing to have cosmetic surgery on her body, the 'Dukes of Hazzard' actress is adamant she would never change her face.

She added: "I'd never have anything done to my face. I like it the way it
is."

Jessica admits she sometimes has days like all women when she is paranoid about her shape and looks.

She explained: "I'm proud of my figure, but if I'm having an off day I'll just throw on a trenchcoat and heels and go out."

During the summer Jessica said she tried lip injections but stopped shorty after.

Is that at all hypocritical- no matter how 'small' lip injections are, she did have work on her face really?! :shrugs:

I don't want my boobs to fall below my waist line either really?!
