Would you believe me if I told you this dress retailed for $5k? lol Correction: It was $3k. https://www.mytheresa.com/us/en/wom...AAAAD3Pw-l8vgCS0fVHRwEDzf9Uo5Zii&gad_source=1
I know everyone has different ideas of what's "worth it" or not, especially here on the PURSE forum, where many of us would be accused by society of spending insane amounts of money on materialist things, but no way would I pay that for that dress. I like the dress...does J.Crew make a version?...but not for that price!

It's a Brunello Cucinelli dress. If you don't know about BC, he bought the town his wife grew up in on Italy. It's called Solomeo. He renovated the entire town. It's very small. Beautiful place. He build a theater there, too.

And he pays his people well, feeds them a gourmet 5 course lunch daily (we were invited to join when we were there) and lets them take long lunch breaks. It's definitely a philosophy. I toured his school where they teach the new apprentices how they do things. They have a new class each year. They showed us how they only use the best cashmere and literally feed the threads in one by one into the machine that weaves the cashmere. The quality of the items is very high but like every designer, their prices have skyrocketed over the last few years. But the quality is there for sure. Also, with that particular dress, you can see at the top there is something they call a monilli, which is the BC signature thing. It's a metallic thing. When they put those on, it really drives up the price. This piece has an overlay of the monilli, which was why the price is so high. https://shop.brunellocucinelli.com/...mpsuits/precious-net-dress-241MMONLASR83.html

BC makes beautiful clothes and his philosophy sounds wonderful. I just wouldn't pay that much for that dress, just like I won't ever pay 15K for a Chanel jacket. To each their own.

BC makes the most discrete, expensive items out there. They are most noted for their cashmere RTW. If one is super rich and wants to go under the radar, this is the go-to brand.

Personally, I would just shop J Crew or Zara if I wanted a simple dress like that. But I'm not JLo either so what do I know.

I think they are a little more flashy than Loro Piana. They do a lot of metallics lately, lots of sequins and those monilli things. Gone are they days when they are exclusively high end cashmere.
