I wonder if something happened last minute to the shoes she planned to wear and this is all she had?
That said, I imagine there's a team of people who ensure there are backup options and have the ability to come up with something else at a moment's notice. Even a pair of Rothy's flats would have been a better (and very comfortable) choice.

Given the number of times she's tripped at the Oscars, not a surprise at all that she would not want to navigate those steps in heels. She's also been out of the spotlight for a bit, and needs to be back there again - so I would not be surprised if this was a very intentional plan to make sure people were aware that she's back and at Cannes.

she now looks like someone else who happens to resemble Jennifer Lawrence just a little, not actual Jennifer Lawrence.Her whole face look different, different jawline, different mouth, different nose, different eyes (even the space between her eyebrows looks off)
Crazy! I remember seeing pictures of her in recent months promoting something she was in and she did not look like this, she looked more like her normal self.
