It was a smaller and classier affair. I just read a piece on Business Insider by a Venetian resident and gallery owner who says the Bezos wedding has a very different feel, and not in a good way. It was somewhat political in nature so I refrained from posting it here.

So one or two meet ups = a wedding invite in social climbing land. Sigh. Glad I don’t see any other royals there though.
Agreed - pretty sure Venice had sentimental value to that couple given George was always there and had a beautiful home there.
I noticed that this couple often literally share headline with Kardashians. It's as if Lauren isn't interesting enough to have her own articles. DF and others prefer showing Kardashian. Lauren looks like a long-lost Kardashian family member. I can understand why some washed up and new celebs (a young Sydney Sweeney has what in common with Bezos?) appeared - to network. Overall, it's indeed a circus but the names are somewhat underwhelming. The looks are tacky. I expected something a bit classier. The dress was described universally as ugly.

I'd never expect it from Bezos. He went for it, his choice.

Sanchez was a well-known figure in LA pre-Bezos, from her early days on the local news and then when she made a big move up by marrying Patrick Whitesell, a co-founder of WME. They were married for twelve years and I assume quite a few of the guests, like Ari Emanuel and celebs repped by WME, are friends of hers from that era. She and Whitesell reportedly went on double dates with Bezos and his ex Mackenzie Scott, and here we are.
I don't think that was part of the actual invitation. More likely sent as an afterthought. The real invitations were probably some elaborate hand-delivered thing, like boxes containing live butterflies and rose petals.Clearer pic from Bazaar

This is clearly the Harry & Meghan type of wedding where people were invited based on their ability to generate clicks, not on their actual relationship with the couple. 🤢
Thoughts on the dress? I had a feeling she would cover up to get people talking. I don't think the dress is bad but I don't think it is spectacular either

That has to be done. The marriage is not recognized legally if it takes place overseas. Any couple that does a foreign destination wedding has to do a legal ceremony in the US before or after their foreign wedding.
Skipping that step can be a great way for celebs to appear married when they're not. Wasn't it discovered after Jennifer Anniston and Justin Thoreau split that they'd never actually filed a wedding certificate?
