I haven't seen his yacht in person, but having seen plenty of big boats in the Fort Lauderdale marina over the years, I can tell you that they are absolutely f***ing gigantic. The scale doesn't come across in a mere picture until you walk by it and realize that it's truly the size of a football field.

:wtf: thank you Vlad - that is what I was hoping to see in other pics but could not find one with perspective to anything. never would have thought of a whole football field!!

Huge ships, cruise and mega yachts, have been a problem for a long time. This shows scale compared to a large hotel on the Grand Canal.IMG_5816.webp

This was 20 years ago. It was intimidating to look out as the cruise ship sailed by and realize with a good pair of binoculars we could have peeked into staterooms, we didn’t 😇.

My husband’s comment, “Hope the Captain has a steady hand. One bump off course and we could be in trouble.”

P.S. This is from an old school 2005 travel photo album. 🙂

with their wealth, you would think they would say "no gifts"
Reportedly, the invite did say "no gifts"
"We are excited for you to join us! We have one early request: Please, no gifts.

But what's the point of a football field size yacht that has the single-most polluting asset and only carries a few people.
This is a good question. You would think they already have enough money as it is but it turns out having a mega yacht is actually very important to business people on this scale. I am reading the book The Haves and Have Yachts by Evan Osnos and he makes a very interesting point early in the book about why rich people go to this much trouble and expense.

There is a maritime rule which limits the amount of "guests" who can sleep aboard even a huge yacht to about 12.(it is based on a maritime rule from way back when the Titanic went down) That is for guests but that does not include the crew. Some of these yacht crews run to 55-60 people for the megayachts. All of those people are there completely to serve only those 12. Think of a bunch of billionaires coming over to your opulent house and you have a housekeeper or two, may be a nanny or two and the gardener and pool guy came by earlier to setup everything. The cook and servers are the only people working real time but on a yacht it is way more opulent with all of those 60 crew "waiting" 24/7 to serve just 12 guests. Not many rich people have that many people at their home at once.

Also on a huge boat in the middle of the ocean the truly rich can let their hair down. They don't have to worry about having a security guard on their hip and they can truly relax. There is no paparazzi out there bothering them.

The last point he made was the fact that even on a mega yacht it is more intimate with only up to 12 people spending that much time together in relatively close quarters. It is different from me inviting you over my house for a dinner or even a weekend. All rich people have the big home and the same yard guy you have so it is nice but not exclusive. But once you have spent time in close quarters on a superyacht in that sort of opulence and it tends to stick with people. Imagine you inviting me to dinner at your house vs taking my whole family on your opulent yacht? Then when you call me about a new deal suddenly I am more likely to take that call because of our shared experience and it really is hard for me to say no when you have hosted my family like that. It makes a huge impression.

They say the level of deals a superyacht can secure more than pays for the cost of the ship if you can believe that.
It really is interesting. Trust me, these rich people aren't buying these boats willy nilly like some athlete buying an expensive car with his first big paycheck. It is all part of a way for them to show their place in the pecking order and reap all those benefits that a huge yacht can sucure.

DH and I would irritate a lot of folks here lol
We hold hands all the time, we don't even think about it. I didn't know it was a trigger lol
Also *gasp* we like to sit on same side of table instead of across, and his hand is usually on my knee :shrugs:

I didn't see anything weird about her arms. Skin laxity is low no matter how good of shape we're in after a certain age and with sun damage, and she has low body fat. Unless I'm missing the perceived issue with her arm lol

Not a fan of either of these people...

@Swanky--I think there was another hand-holding couple that was in mind and Bezos & Sanchez just so happened to be guilty also.:winkiss:

What would you give a multibiillionaire as a wedding gift anyway?

I think the original comment was referring to the performative kind of hand holding that is often seen by a couple who is the subject of much discussion on another thread. My husband and I have been married for over forty years and we still hold hands. On the days that we don't want to kill each other. And we sit on the same side so we can hear each other in noisy restaurants.
