Over 20,000 Audition Online to Join Janet Jackson’s ‘JTribe’
Janet Jackson is holding the first open dance auditions for her “JTribe” in over a decade, receiving thousands of responses after alerting fans via social media.
Due to the overwhelming response, Ms. Jackson will now be moving her in-person auditions to a much larger venue, switching out Burbank’s Starwest Studios for the far more spacious Showbiz Studios in Van Nuys, CA on April 23rd.
For those who can’t make it to the city of angels, Jackson and her trusted team of choreographers are combing through thousands upon thousands of social media auditions, with over 20,000 aspiring two-steppers showing off their skills online thus far.

Los Angeles, CA (April 23, 2018) – Global superstar Janet Jackson will return to arenas and amphitheaters across the U.S. this summer with an extension of her outstanding and in-demand State of the World Tour. The outing will showcase some of the legendary entertainer’s biggest dance anthems and powerhouse ballads that have become staples of the music icon’s career.
Produced by Live Nation, the newly announced U.S. dates will kick off July 11 in Austin, TX and visit cities across the country including Cincinnati, Hershey, Raleigh, Miami, and more. Tickets go on sale to the general public starting Friday, April 27 at LiveNation.com. The honor recognizes an artist's cultural impact, both inside and outside of the music industry; past recipients include Neil Diamond (2011), Stevie Wonder (2012), Prince (2013), Jennifer Lopez (2014), Céline Dion (2016) and Cher(2017). Jackson will also take the stage and perform. From 1990 to 2001, the singer earned 18 Billboard Music Award nominations, winning 10 times.
This will be Jackson's first televised performance in nine years.
Jackson will join previously announced musical acts BTS, Camila Cabello, Ariana Grande, Dua Lipa and Shawn Mendes. Kelly Clarkson will host the event at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena. NBC will broadcast the ceremony live Sunday, May 20, beginning at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT.
Jackson has a busy summer ahead of her. Last month, the singer announced she would be extending her State of the World Tour by adding 11 dates to her North American concert series.
A six-time Grammy Award winner, Jackson has sold over 160 million records worldwide.
