Is Rolex a good move up from Tag?

Very nice!

although, it is not meteorite diamond dial. It is silver jubilee diamond dial

Meteorite from Mars, therefore it has its own characteristics for each finished piece made.
And I think it costs $850 more than silver jubilee dial

There you go! Silver jubilee! Thanks for the correction ;)

Did your store have a big selection?
I actually started looking at Omega Aqua Terra after going to look at Rolex's, the local store I went into had what I thought was a good Rolex selection and I didn't see one thing there I liked. So I decided Rolex obviously wasn't for me!
Then I went into Bachendorf's last year to look at ring settings and was shocked to see half a dozen ladies Rolex's I totally wanted! It was ALL about stock, I was caught off guard. Now I want a Rolex again :D

If you ever want a Rolex let me know and I'll give you our SAs name who is at Bachendorf's and is a mgr at the Galleria location, he gives us amazing deals on all watches especially Rolex.

OP, I also think its all about going to a place that has a good selection to choose from of several brands you might be interested in... I personally would choose a Rolex hands down, look at the midsize ones, they are not that much more then the 26mm but look so much more young imo.

Wow! I didn't know there was so much going on about my Aqua Terra. :blushing:

Personally, I think Omega is a good realiable watch and I just love the fact that it's more comfortable (when worn) than the Rolex, I can't explain why. Since owning the Aqua Terra, I have been wearing it almost everyday, more often than Rolex Lady Datejust.

Ooh, if you turn to the back casing of all Omegas, you'll get a beautifully crafted design. I'll post up pics when I get my camera back. Unfortunately, Rolex doesn't, considering the amount paid for Rolex.

I am also waiting anxiously for vagabag to decide.....

Some comparison pictures of two tone Rolex and Omega.

I like Omega more because of curved casing as well as the closer bracelet links compared to Rolex. Also Aqua Terra's vertical dial adds more character to the watch. tpfers - what's your verdict?

Hey TPFers - I'm back! Sorry, was out for a lot of the day and am loving all the great replies to my post! This is incredibly helpful info! I was supposed to go to the Omega store today but instead, took my dog for a long afternoon hike! LOL! I'm planning to go tomorrow. Hoping that I will be able to quickly tell whether a Rolex or Omega is more suitable for me. As for Rolex, I'm drawn to the jubilee bracelet because it seems more classic but I also think it's what makes my DH call "old lady". I don't know if I can get myself to spend that much $ on the oyster bracelet. Also, the Rolex SA told me the oyster bracelet scratches more easily. Nvie - do you think your bracelet will scratch like the oyster? Thanks again everyone! Looking forward to my trip tomorrow!

vagabag - Jubilee is more expensive than Oyster bracelet. Same goes with fluted is more expensive than dome bezel. Everose Gold is more expensive than Yellow Gold.

Your SA is right about less visibility of scratches on jubilee bracelet. I forgot to add that Aqua Terra's bracelet is brushed steel, scratches are less visible compared to polished steel. Scratches are inevitable. Don't worry about scratches as you can always send it back for polishing.

If your husband thinks that jubilee is more of an 'old lady' look, he is right but also that's the classic Rolex look.

I think if you want to buy a Rolex, let it be fluted bezel with jubilee bracelet. Consider some other brands if you are looking at Rolex's Oyster bracelet. It's like BMWs and their front grills....signature design.

Well said !

ita. i didn't even know oyster bracelet is less $ b/c i immediately dismissed it when i was at the shop. i just went with the notion that my first rolex should have the jubilee link. so, i think it's down to the rolex jubilee, fluted bez in the larger size versus an omega (if i see one i love today!)

Pictures please! For a rolex my vote is for jubilee. But preference is still omega aqua terra. Can't wait to see what you decide

Also, has anyone noticed the jubilee bracelet stretching? It sounds weird but I think before I heard that it won't hold it's shape as well? But maybe that's not true?

yes, i read that too. if i understand correctly, the new design will not stretch. can someone inform as to when the new design took place (what year)? is there a way to tell old from new design? thank you!

^ The new design was released I believe in 2006-07 and you can tell a difference by the clasp. The new one has an invisible clasp and the two I have are jubilee bracelet and they have not stretched.

My mom has the invisible clasp/new bracelet and she's worn it everyday for about 3 years now and it still sits tight on her wrist!

I vote for the jubilee as well. I am not a big fan of the TT oyster bracelet (in SS it looks fine; I guess the contrast in colors highlights the "plainness" of the band). There is just something so refined and beautiful about a TT jubilee!!!
