Is Rolex a good move up from Tag?

Sure, there's a hierarchy, just like bag brands. But a jump from Tag to Rolex is a big one. I'm just trying to point out that there IS an in between. I agree about Omega repositioning itself to be more of a quality/luxury brand, but so is Tag

Rolex is definitely not an "old person's" watch. All of young Hollywood is rolling around knee deep in Rolexes.

I do agree that the smaller face ones are more formal/mature, but I still feel a young lady would look very elegant wearing one.

I don't have a Rolex yet, but it is next on my wish list of watches.

OP, Rolex is an excellent move up from Tag, IMO!

Maybe I'm the only one but when I saw rolexes in person I wasn't impressed with the female collection? It didn't seem as delicate as I would expect which is maybe why since it's a more traditional look that people say it's a "older brand for people of age"? I do agree with previous posters that the smaller ones give this message more than the chunkier watches.

I LOVE the omega everyone has been posting though! If I ever get a nicer watch it would be an omega. Im also lazy and prefer quartz movements, but that's a whole other thing! I'm not sure how waterproof or sporty you want but I also love Patek Philippe watches. That might be an even larger jump than rolex though.

Did your store have a big selection?
I actually started looking at Omega Aqua Terra after going to look at Rolex's, the local store I went into had what I thought was a good Rolex selection and I didn't see one thing there I liked. So I decided Rolex obviously wasn't for me!
Then I went into Bachendorf's last year to look at ring settings and was shocked to see half a dozen ladies Rolex's I totally wanted! It was ALL about stock, I was caught off guard. Now I want a Rolex again :D

Swanky - you mean there are a lot of styles? Seemed like the watches pretty much were the same other than choice of dial color, diamonds/no diamonds and oyster or jubilee bracelet. I went into a Rolex store (they only sell Rolexes). But, maybe she just didnt show me the other choices becaus they'd be out of my budget.

I am drawn to the omega and will visit my local shops to have a look at that one. I really want a two-tone so it can go with my silver and gold hw bags! Don't know if that omega will look good as a TT, though. I love it as it is!

The store I went to seemed to have a pretty good selection. They have a leased space inside the downtown San Francisco store and they had most, if not all, the ones I thought I wanted online. I think the thing that got to me the most was the bezel of rolex watches. I don't like fluted look, and the smooth seemed too smooth in that it didn't flow well with the bracelet? However, I love thier mens selection! I was there to look for DF more than myself anyways so maybe I'll have to give the womens section a better look over next time.

I think Rolex makes a better two-tone than Omega. There is just something about the jubilee bracelet and even the oyster bracelet which looks so much more polished and refined than the Omega one. As for face and movement, they are pretty on par with Rolex. (Apparently NASA did a bunch of tests with Rolex and Omega, and they found Omega outperformed Rolex only because Rolex failed the humidity test!)

I just turned 25 a few weeks ago and I want a Rolex. My mom has one but I don't think it looks like an older person watch at all. I don't even mind the 26 mm face. Some might say it looks outdated, but I think it looks quite dainty and lady-like. But I agree the larger faces (mid-sized, 36mm) are more "younger" and modern looking.

yeah is you don't like either bezel and you don't want to pay their exorbitant price for diamond bezel then none of them will appeal to you.
Vagabag, the store I went to had, literally, 8 cases FULL of Rolex's. There's more to it than face color and bracelet choices. Not all stores carry a full line to look at. Even some of the really nice stores don't have an amazing collection I'm finding.

Omega is an AMZING quality watch that even watch collector's don't normally turn their nose up at, after all, they are the official watch of the Olympics! And their prices are headed up!

Happy belated! Ill be 25 in a few weeks too!

I've also wondered if the "younger" looking larger face will be out of date and trendy. When I went to hong kong in 2005 or so all the girls were wearing huge watches and I remember at the time thinking these girls are crazy! Haha i fell into the fad there and got a large face white d&g watch to test it out and when i got back people told me it looked weird but now it's completely normal and I like the look more.

I think Omega for yourself and Rolex (or even Omega) for your DF would be really nice. I just priced a Seamaster Aqua Terra Chronometer for my DF and nearly fell outside of my seat at the price! It is so much cheaper than the Rolex!

Thank you! Happy early birthday! Are you an Ares??

I tried on the mid-size and I really like it. I think it fits my smaller wrist perfectly without looking TOO large and in your face. I would think 34mm would be perfect for you as well. I don't mind the Rolex look at all but I think I kind of like the "masculine" look.

DF is 1000% a millgaus guy! He just doesn't know it yet cause I haven't had him with me hoping I could surprise him! He loves orange (thus our unusual choice for our wedding. People keep giving me that "why?" look when I say orange). Ive looked all over and not too many watches with orange that is subtle enough to be classic. But we decided no wedding presents and go crazy on honeymoon and buy our gifts then but I may do something still but not extravagant.

The watches I have been attracted to are styles like the aqua terra and tag carrera and cartier roadster. So really sleek all stainless designs and no diamonds (I want my ering center stage but maybe that will change in future). I'm also torn on the quartz vs automatic thing. I think for a lazy person like me, quartz might be the answer but eh. Ill look more into it when i actually feel the urge to buy something for myself. DF also doesn't like me in watches. My wrist measures about 5.5 inches so it's small and all the watches ive liked look ridiculous on. I really wanted a michael lots for fun but they looked like it was wearing me! I guess I'll settle for the love bracelet... Haha

Have you decided for yourself and DF kohl?

Taurus. The stubborn bull. Haha

If I get a watch I think I have to aim for about a 28-30mm. What size is your wrist?
