Black/GHW is one of those combos that folks want around here since it goes with pretty much everything. Also, not saying 4 months is bad, just that we got two gold/gold offers in the matter of 2 months, so the black was longer. I’m sure the boutique had zero problems selling the gold bags as soon as we said no.

Super interesting! I am in the southeast... I guess gold is just in high demand down here compared to up north.
I think the gold is such a classic Hermes color that I would never mind adding one to my collection! I actually think the etoupe matches most clothes because it is real neutral whereas black might look a bit "heavier" during the summer, and gold might clash with some really bright colours? Although these days I feel like its a trend to mix and match, and no such thing is clashing lol. I think if this is your first and you are open to adding more in the future you can't go wrong with noir, gold or etoupe. And like what you said black is something you will never grow out of, so to speed things up maybe you can give her all three as an option? I do feel like noir might be slightly easier just because everyone might have a black bag already in another brand (say Chanel) so want to get another one of the classic Hermes neutrals but not black.
I immediately clicked on this thread as this is almost the exact situation that I am in as well. For my current wishlist this birkin in this combo is at the #1 spot. My SA and I have a very open and honest relationship so I asked her to tell me how hard this would be to get? Ultimately she said not hard in terms of this combos availability, it is one of Hermes season-less colors and is always in production, however she said that next black, gold is the next most requested color. Once that color arrives it isn't around long, every SA has a client with that color on their list so they're practically sold the second they show up. I am trying to not let this discourage me, you shouldn't either! As far has your SA saying that this hasn't been seen in the boutique in 2 years, that seems like a bit of a stretch.... Perhaps she meant to say it has been awhile, and maybe she hasn't seen it because it goes so fast?! Despite all of this it is wise to have lots of other colors and possibilities on your list so that any offer is possibly something you want or would say yes to. It sounds like you've got a good lineup. Not sure what area you're shopping in or how that boutique operates but I am personally considering the resale market to get this exact combo, that is how bad I want this. Waiting it out at the boutique could be awhile and I don't want to spend a number of seasons buying all sorts of things before this actually comes my way. So give it some thought because that combo is out there!
Yes why not add the 25! When I was after my first Kelly, I'd specified both the 28 and 25, fully expecting to be offered the 28 because the 25 is supposedly more difficult to get... But it's the K25 I was offered... As everyone says here, with Hermes you just never know
Very good point about etoupe! I agree black can tend to look heavy in the summer months, especially if it's a bigger bag, but the 30 might not be too bad. It's funny you say that about gold and bright colors, because I thought the same thing - but then this year fell in love with how my gold evelyne looked with bright pink and orange! I wore it with bright pink sweaters in the fall and neon tees in the summer!
I am in the same boat, wondering if down the road I would consider a reseller for this combo (I still want to buy my first B from the boutique) if I could find a reasonable price. I just don't know how many more things I could possibly buy from Hermes since I have so much at this point! I really have everything I could ever want from them so it's becoming harder to find things to buy for the sake of wanting to maintain a relationship and get my first B. I wish I was more into scarves. I have some and they have never seen the light of day. That would make it easier if I was an avid scarf collector, lol maybe I'll try to make myself wear them. I don't dare to add this to my wishlist no matter how much I want it in B25, simply because the spending requirement for this at my store is very high, as there are many that want this color =(
Thank you. I decided you’re right so when my SA offered it a 3rd time last week, I figured it was meant to be so I bought it even though I have a Barenia 30. Togo is easier to bang around with and the Barenia has PHW versus the gold on the Togo. At least that’s how I justified the purchase to myself. LOL
It just depends on timing. I’m also in the NYC area and have been offered black Bs and Ks more often than Gold. Those SAs are crafty though. I have a Black Togo so then they come up with Black Porosus to hook you by changing up the hardware.
