I second several in this thread on her trying to set your expectations. The way I would interpret it - it is highly likely that a etoupe B30 GHW is coming in so she'd like to see if you will be interested. I have been following bag offer threads on TPF for two years and many more have mentioned B30 gold being offered to them (perhaps twice as frequent as etoupe in B30?).
If you like a B30 Gold GHW you should wait. It could be true that many people want this color combo, but if your SA wants to offer you one, she or he just needs to wait for a few shipments. I personally wouldn't call these specifications a unicorn (for me it would be smooth barenia in B/K).

It really depends on seasons, but when I grab my Birkins lately, I tend to use my B30 in black... the 35's are just getting dust at the moment...
It really depends on the store and the SA. Each region also has its favorite colors/hardware preferences and the store orders accordingly. I agree with others, I have had SA's ask me about different colors not on my Wish List, because they knew what items were inbound and were trying to gauge my interest.

I think b30 gold in ghw is definitely a highly sought after combo but it is also one that is regularly produced so I don’t think it’s should be that difficult! I was offered one but in Epsom so I turned it down and ended up getting a b30 in noir ghw instead as that was what came next and was on my wishlist as well. I think if you also like etoupe it is good to have 1-2 other options but if your heart is set on gold I’d say hold out for it! Just need to practice some patience hehe but i feel like offers come when you least expect it to! But echoing what the other members have said def don’t settle

This is really interesting. In my view there are 3 options:
1. Your purchase history isn't quite strong enough yet for her to offer you a very desirable bag so she's trying to manage your expectations in a very polite way
2. She's aware of other clients who've already requested the exact same bag, but have been waiting for longer / have a longer relationship with the store / have a stronger purchase history. All it takes is a couple clients like that and they'd need to receive 3 of this exact bag within a year to be able to offer it to you within a year
3. It may also be the case that she's been unable to offer this bag to her clients for 2y because they've been offered by other SAs and that's what she means when she says she hasn't seen this combo in 2y...
Just guesses of course!
Either way, I'd suggest to be a bit flexible on 1 element, e.g. the leather type, the size or the hardware... But please keep us posted and I hope it will happen soon

I believe it really depends on the boutique/location. I am sure Gold/GHW is as highly produced as Black/GHW. We had been offered Gold/GHW twice before our SA remembered that the wife doesn’t like the color. We had to wait for our Black/GHW bag for about four months. We were told that Black is really really in demand in our area.
I got my first H bag from the store (birkin 30 togo black GHW) after 1-2 months of waiting with no prior purchase history at that store, BUT it was a brand new store so their was no prior clientele. Plus my SA was my SA at LV for years then transfered to H.

30 seems like such a classic size! I haven't been able to try any of the sizes on, but my SA gave me garden partys that were similar sizing to the 30/35 and the 30 just seemed perfect for day to day!

Aw congrats on your noir B30! Do you feel it matches just as much as the gold would, or do you find yourself wishing for the gold still? I am thinking of adding that to my wish list (on top of the caramel, etoupe) because it's just a classic. I wear a lot of color right now but I know over time that always changes (and black matches with most color anyways). Totally agree, I definitely don't have a strong purchase history.. I guess I was just surprised it would be easier for me to get etoupe or black over gold (always thought those were more popular). But that makes sense any gold B30 that comes in they would take a look at everyone who has it on the wish list and prioritize based on purchase history/ time on list. So me being "newly" added to the list and not being a huge spender is def a disadvantage. I have been looking at photos of etoupe and black and am falling more and more in love with them so that makes me feel better about missing on out on gold for my first one. I would definitely be flexible on size (I wouldn't mind a 25, but I am petite so 35 is massive on me) but I figured 25 is more sought after than 30 so I didn't even bother mentioning to her. Do you think I should add those colors in 25 to my wishlist as well or would that be even more difficult than 30?
Are you in the US? 4 months isn't too bad at all! My SA mentioned it would definitely happen this year so I am hoping within 12 months I'll be a proud B owner lol. Your wife's combo is such a classic, the more photos I see of it the more I love it!! Thinking about adding to my wishlist but I didn't originally since I wear a lot of color and wasn't sure black would match as well as gold.
OMG how amazing that is like winning the lotto lol!!! My store is 2 years old now... wish I would have thought of doing that when they first opened!
