Is B30 Gold Togo w/ GHW THAT hard to get?

TBH I move frequently for work so I have always shopped at various stores the last 9 years that I have been buying Hermes. I never cared to maintain presence at 1 store bc I just shopped for fun and wasn't really thinking about the B/K long haul. This is my first time shopping at 1 store over and over again. I think we get along quite well, we are about the same age and seem to vibe really well. I mentioned during my second visit with her that I "might want a birkin someday. Would I have to tell you years in advance that I want one? Does it take years to get one?" and she laughed and said "Nooooo it doesn't take that long, just let me know when you're ready for one"..... So fast forward to my third visit with her. I explained I only buy 1 bag per year and was looking at a Chanel jumbo and realized it's crazy for me to buy a chanel jumbo when I truly in my heart have always wanted a B and the price difference is minimal between the two. So she seemed to get really excited and took out the leather box and dove into so many details on the H spa and leathers (I have been very invested in learning about Hermes for years and already know these things, but I smiled and nodded). She said to text her if I find any other colors or anything that I like. Sorry for this long winded thing, but I think things are really good between us, so I find her 2+ year comment incredibly confusing!! I secretly wish she was like lying to me and going to surprise me with my dream combo. UGH total wishful thinking but I can't wrap my head around this situation!

Based on this I wouldn’t worry too much about your SA lying, sounds like she is a good SA and you have a good relationship. She may be exaggerating but probably is trying to warn you that you may need to wait some time for that specific bag (maybe there are other clients wanting it or maybe there is not many of them in upcoming shipments that aren’t already spoken for). It’s also possible that she knows an Etoupe is coming and wanted to judge your potential interest.

If you are firm on your requirement, no need to settle. Let your SA know that is the case and that you will be patient. I think Gold/GHW is a fabulous combo and love it myself. Good luck!

She talked me into Epsom too, but my heart is absolutely set on togo so even if I keep the colors on my wish list I do need to somehow let her know I am not interested in epsom. I have been scared this past week to text her and tell her about the epsom because I don't want to seem unappreciative!

It depends on the store / how the SM runs things, but yeah some SAs will get a heads up for upcoming shipments (or you know it could have been that they had an Etoupe in the back too).

In my experience, being firm with your wishlist is always a good thing if you are truly firm on what you want. If you are open to options it obviously means more chances of getting something. But if you have strict requirements, letting your SA know is much better than getting offered something that is on your wishlist but wasn’t what you really wanted, then you turn it down. That is more annoying I think, when you could have saved your SA the trouble of working to get that bag approved for you in the first place.

As long as you are patient I would be very clear to your SA regarding what you want.

Curious if others have had a hard time or easy time getting this bag... I was creating my first wish list with my SA and she said she hasn't seen this combo come in their boutique in 2+ years!!! She said I would have an easier time getting Etoupe. Gold togo w/ GHW is like my #1 choice by a mile. It's my first B and I wear a lot of pinks, burgundy, camel, orange (and wear denim most days) so gold just seems like it makes more sense than anything else. I added caramel to my list even though I don't love it as much as gold and added etoupe as well. I feel a little sad TBH because I had my heart set on this 1 bag haha. Any suggestions of another color that might pair well with the colors I wear? I wish I could get more excited about this since I have wanted a Birkin for forever.

Told her some options and she got me my third choice which was b30 black with rghw in about a year later..
I dont spend too much at hermes so im guessing my journey might take longer and sadly my SA recently left and I have to meet with a new SA soon so i wonder how long my Journey to a gold b will take....
But for sure im thinking more than 2 years haha

I don't believe this to be true, I was offered this exact bag twice in 2019 from two different stores
(I premise though, that I shop consistently in two different stores based in two different countries in Europe);

Feb 2019, had an appointment with my Sales Assistant, she knows me well and I've been shopping with her for over 6 years. Went in to have a look at fabrics and homeware and told her I was interested in another B30, something classic. She offered me on the spot a B30 Togo, Gold GHW. I took it, even though I already owned the same bag in a 35.

Jul 2019, got a call from my other store, a B30 Togo, Gold GHW had arrived and was invited to come take a look at the bag. With this store I had enquired 9 months prior a B30 in Barenia, but they received this one. I obviously didn't take as I had already gotten the same bag back in February, but my SIL got it instead.

In my modest opinion, a B30 Togo Black GHW is hard to get (at least where I live), I had to wait for mine 1,5 years and my SIL had to wait for her B30 black with PHW almost 2 years... and was told now that for a B30 Black GHW the waitlist had gone up to 2,5 years... but to be honest, I don't think that one has to wait more than 9-12 months for a B30 in classic colours, especially since introducing again the Wishlist system where the wait is approximately 1 year... my colleague placed a request for a B25 Togo Black GHW end of October 2020, and got a call beginning of December 2020 that a B25 Togo Black with PHW had arrived instead, she took it obviously.

Such a great point, I wouldn't want her to go through the trouble to get a bag approved and then me turn her down. I will have to think long and hard about the other colors before I make a move. I do really like etoupe and many other colors in general, but it's just matching with my wardrobe that is a pain. I wear lots of rust/orange/camel, pink, red/burgundy and I feel like greys and blacks don't look AMAZING with those colors like gold does. I do love a good ole plain black B but I feel sort of Halloween when I wear orange and black for some reason haha.

Okay LOVE this! Thank you a ton!! I am going to text her today and let her know. I definitely am a casual gal and I think the look of togo makes more sense with how I dress (although I do appreciate how beautiful epsom is!).

That is super interesting! My SA told me is was "easy" to get etoupe as well as black. I guess maybe it just has to do with the region/store and what is sent vs what is popular. Which of your B's do you find yourself using the most?

I wore my 35 into the store, gold togo, gold hardware, to make an exchange recently. My SA told me I "have a unicorn". She said that they have a huge waitlist for that color combo, and they haven't seen it in years as well.
