Is anyone else shopping out of fear/stress of prices increasing?

Tried to buy Dior before the last increase, couldn't make up my mind. I liked the Caro bag in that beautiful blush but was going back and forth. The increase happened and I am over it lol. If I am meant to get it, it will happen but if not I will be ok. I have moved on to my latest crush- jewelry by Messika! They have already increased their prices this year  which I am over. If these pieces keep pulling at my heart strings- I will pull the trigger!

What are you eyeing from Messika and what was their price increase like? I just learned about the brand lately and have been wanting a piece! I saw someone post here that they had a 25% off sale at Saks a couple years ago. I wonder how often they do that. Saks recently had a sale where you get a gift card for buying X amount. I tried to add a necklace to my cart and was eligible for a $400 gift card but I’d rather wait for a discount sale!

I was obsessed with Messika also a few months ago...especially their move collection. I ordered a couple of pieces through Neiman’s and realized that the jewelry is way overpriced for what it is. That was pre price increase! While I like the concept of moving diamonds, in real life it was much less impressive. My jeweler said he could make the move ring for me at 1/3 of the price, but I passed. It would have still been an expensive indulgence because I would not have stopped at just one piece! I have to say that the pics of jewelry on their models are some of the best in the industry! Very tempting!

I’ve stocked up on my favorite food because I’m afraid it will be out again for months (happened once already earlier in January/February) and so now I’m just hoarding. Luckily it’s not super perishable foods.

Ugh, I know what you mean.. I was just at a Chinese grocery store couple days ago(darn those sudden craving for milk buns). And the store seemed pretty empty. I think Chinese lockdowns are delaying lot of shipment of goods added to inflations.

Normally I don't buy frozen food at all but at this rate of costs I would at least have to buy bagged and frozen vegetables on sale to keep up with the costs. I was talking to my coworkers(I'm the youngest in the office) that for my generation it's unusual to have the concept of "pantry". We are forever keeping up with cost or most don't cook at all and just eat out or they have no money left to even build the pantry. In my case I hardly eat out, but I'm always on the budget and looking to maximize my savings and investments but last 2 years been none stop pantry stocking. Right now I'm having hard time tracking down oatmeal of all things.

I don’t build a pantry because I will literally eat everything at home. I have to adjust for a few items I’m stocking up but generally I make multiple rounds to the store because I only buy what I’ll be eating over the next few days. (In addition to eating out).

I am eyeing an ice cream machine as we chatter lol.

That's why in my pantry I don't have any cookies. Unfortunately I'm a baker.
I'm trying real hard not getting the air frier(hope you don't look that one up)

I swear by the inexpensive ice cream makers with freezer inserts (I have several inserts for diff flavors and keep them in the freezer for 48 hours

breville toaster ovens have excellent air fry button functions

during Covid, I bought meat, poultry in bulk on sale from d’artagnan and kept them in the freezer. One day, I mistakenly ordered 12 chickens instead of 12 chicken breasts. Fortunately, they were the small chickens that are vacuum sealed and I had emptied out my freezer in anticipation, but I’m more careful now.

i sadly stopped baking for health reasons during Covid. For a while I thought I could still bake things if they weren’t sweet (sourdough soft rolls, crackersm or biscuits, but it was too hard to stay on doctor prescribed diet. I still miss it.

We special order & buy staples by the case & usually get a significant discount.

However we are starting to run low and our orders are taking longer & longer to arrive. Also I have noticed lower quality & substitutes.

During 2020 it was hard to get Trader Joe’s turkey chili. It had become an easy go to. When it came back in stock, I decided keep a four to five can minimum! Before that it was maybe 2 cans, cause I go there regularly!
