My son and one daughter are taller than me. I'm still taller than my older daughter.Oh, i get it mine is taller than me.. and a "man" now but he's still my baby
Today was a depressing day in the world of remodeling. The appliances were delivered. They couldn't install the microwave because there were no appropriate wood pieces for them to screw the frame to. The cabinet people are supposed to come tomorrow and fix it. Hopefully they can install it since the appliance people aren't coming back with them. The oven was dented so they have to bring another one; they don't know when. The dishwasher is partially installed but the plumber put a wrong size connection so that has to be fixed. There is something wrong with the range hood and we have to wait for a repairman. DH doesn't like how tall the stove sticks up over the counter. It is about 3 inches tall. It's gas. We used to have a glass top, which was completely flat.
DH told the contractor he wanted them done with our bathroom so we could use it fully. For the past week, I've had to get up early so they could come through the bedroom to work. We had to take showers in the not very nice shower in the other bathroom and we had to take them really early before they got there because it is in the part of the house they are working on. They installed his shaving mirror upside down. DH is upset I got really long towel bars so we could fit the entire bath towel without folding but now they hang over the light switches. They didn't finish everything. They left a huge mess. I had to sweep and mop just so I can take a bath tonight.

Oh that is awful! Hope everything comes together soon!
Sorry to hear about these hiccups — hope they get resolved very soon so you can return to normal life soon.
That's really upsetting, we. I'm sorry you're having so many set backs. I hope things change very soon.
Thank you for commiserating with me! On the bright side, the stainless appliances look great with the granite color and the cabinet hardware.

Oh no.. it's one thing after another! Hang in there. Hopefully things go better today. We only did one renovation in our house and it's the bathroom downstairs. We thought we hung our towl bar high enough but it's too close to the top of the toilet. There's about 4 inches gap between the towel and the toilet. I think we need to go up another 4 inches.
Renovations are a major headache. There are always little things that don't go perfect. I was out of town when they installed the tall cabinets. They installed them flush to the wall and that left a whole inch of gap between the sink cabinet and the tall cabinets. The tile guy didn't cut the tiles slow enough and they all have chipped edges. The designer disagreed with my choice of a matching wood framed mirror that I wanted. We finally went with just plain only. Except when I got home I saw the mirror installed was different than what we chose together. She "tried" to please me by ordering an etched framed mirror. The etched frame has stripes. So we ended up with a striped mirror on top of a striped mosaic tile back splash. I ended up being very annoyed as a result. We need to renovate the master bathroom upstairs but even though we aren't financially ready I dread thinking about the whole thing.
I remember when you were going through this! The worst part is having to live with imperfect results which spoils your enjoyment of it.
I'm glad you mentioned the towel rack. DH wasn't available when they hung them and they are really high. I wanted mine highish to be away from the toilet. DH says he is getting used to it. He thought his should be under the light switch but that would be pretty low. They don't really have to be the same height because they are on opposite ends of the bathroom. We didn't think about it enough before they started. Since they had to retexture the walls, fill in holes, and we were getting electrical, we could have had them move the light switches.
I am a little late for Valentines Day but I consider these okay for all year! I had missed the heart Nolita on outlet waiting for the price to go down. I had selling credits and got both of these from a seller for a nice price. One of them is a previous year model.

We don't really have a choice but to live with it. DH refuses to get the wall redone because he feels it's unnecessary expense and he didn't tell them to redo it while they were doing it. I think the tile guy said he couldn't cut them smooth because that's the tiles were faulty. Truth is he's not skilled enough to cut these kind of glass tiles. Also my DH doesn't care cuz he's not picky. As I said with the house siding project.. he was agreeing with the sales guy "it's gonna look fine". Men.
I don't want "fine". There are so many things done so weird in this house that if we win the lottery I would want to demolish the whole house and rebuild. Plus we need a guest bedroom since all 3 bedrooms are in use. So basically we need to move and find a new house which isn't going to happen anytime soon. We actually really like our house location, schools, neighbors etc. I can't imagine going through a whole house renovation either.Men don't notice details. DH ordered a couple new doors and told me he was going to make all the decisions. All the doors in our house are stained wood, not painted. After the doors were installed, I noticed that the doors were stain grade but the framing was paint grade. DH didn't notice and went ahead and paid the guy. DH always says he doesn't care what I pick for the remodel but once it gets installed, he makes snarky comments about it. When I picked out the sinks, he didn't even want to look around the showroom with me and didn't want to see what I picked. Once they were delivered and installed, he made some comments.
Before the cabinets were installed, every time someone asked us what color the cabinets were, he told them they were honey colored. I kept trying to correct him. When they were installed, he said he didn't know they were going to look like that.
I can't ask for anything else now. DH just wants them gone even if everything isn't perfect. It is terrible to not have privacy in your own home for as long as this is taking.
