Involuntary Coach ban support group

I was getting serious FOMO over the Ergo yesterday and couldn’t stop thinking about how Coach is phasing out the Originals (correct me if I’m wrong) and this would be my last chance to get something with vintage vibes.

That’s when I thought why not stop collecting vintage-inspired bags and seriously look into the vintage market for once. I’ve always adored the City and Court bags and those are relatively easy to find.

Which inspired a question I have for the group - if Coach were to continue the Originals collection, what vintage styles would you want them to bring back?

My top picks are the Court, the Plaza, the City and the Crescent.

I have a couple red vintage bags that I love but have never carried. Go figure!

Hi All. Doing ok with your ban so far this year? I counter offered someone’s offer for the first time and no response. (I don’t know if they can counter my counter offer ). I feel both bummed (gotta wait longer for the bag to sell) and glad (a little annoyed/indignant  that they asked for over 40% off!!).

Well done! I’ve been low-balled to death (will forever be sad about the perfect Edie 42 I sold for $100).

Keep us posted - I hope you find a buyer who’s willing to pay a fair price soon!

Coach just reduced all the winter sale bags to 50 off and, um, I’m tempted haha. To be honest I just need some retail therapy. These past few weeks have been nuts - we’re having the coldest winter ever, schools are closed due to omicron etc.

What do I do when I need a treat and ice cream just ain’t cutting it

Happy New Year! I’ve already broken our ban. It’s not even lunch yet. Look what arrived last night (had to get it this morning from the neighbour as we were out with our family last night).

It’s the Pennie 22 backpack in 1941 Red. I’ve never carried a backpack ever but I love the colour. It was a really good deal ($179 CAN) so I could not stop myself. This is my second red bag. I also own the Lunar New Year Callie.

Anyway. You’ll find me in my beach chair cuddling my Pennie in my lap. Drink?

That's really cute! I had not seen it before. My wallet is glad for me. Would this be making it to work at all? Enjoy your new pretty.

Yes we did. Now if only I had bags that could be considered as part of a secondary collection. Well, maybe my small, scratched up travel bags do even if they are leather? No? Asking for a friend. :giggle:

Yes, travel bags can be considered part of a secondary collection . I include nylon bags, tiny leather crossbody bags (used for concerts, just big enough for phone, keys, lippy and cash/cards), a suede bag, and other old leather bags. These are mostly bags I bought before joining TPF

Thanks — will do :). I have accepted all offers up to now no matter the dollar amounts but for some reason this time, I felt like not accepting and counteroffering. Oh well, I didn’t make a sale as a result.

I know what you mean about needing some retail therapy (a little too well ). It is even harder to resist when they drop the prices, right? I can’t remember what you decided last time when you thought about getting the light color Ergo. Stay strong and good luck. And hang in there with the weather and the homeschooling MK :).

I have had times where I countered just a bit higher than a low offer and "crickets", and I think to myself, over a few dollars? They could say the same for me, but the difference is that their offer was already low (even for me who sells low), and it is justified I might want a little bit more for my perfect item.

The two back bedrooms are piled high with boxes. There are kitchen items I think we might need scattered all over the house. The kitchen is nearly empty. They are supposed to start ripping it out Monday. While they are working, the only way I will be able to get to my purse room is by going outside and coming in another door.

The first few items I listed here were priced at what I thought was the fair going rate but I still got low offers (which I accepted). Then I started to price things maybe 10%-15% higher than what I would have priced them before, knowing buyers always ask for a discount. With my items, I always get so little money back like less than 1/2 of what I paid (even though I bought many items on sale or for half off retail from the outlet!!!). That is why I cant ever sell any Coach bags that I paid full price for (too painful to get maybe 20% back if lucky ). This should be a good reminder to me to not buy so much stuff going forward.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Though I don't really care if I lose money on bags I overspent on. I prefer to have them out of my hands if I am not using them, as it makes me feel better to know someone can use it rather than have it sit. But if it is one you are using it makes sense to keep it. (in the end if you aren't using it, once you let it go it isn't something you think about much--other than a reminder to yourself to be more careful in the future--kind of like a lesson learned type thing)

What hurts most is losing money on something I never used.

Last year I made it to February 11 without buying a new bag. But I bought a purse charm on January 13.

This year I lasted all of 6 days.  I've been after a turnlock clutch in chalk for a long time. It finally went down to 50% and R--ten had 10% cashback, so I got it. The next day, I get an email saying my purchase is delayed. The delay is in fulfilling the order - whatever that means. It should arrive between Jan 8 and 15. We'll see what happens.
