I saw your Bottega on the ATBV thread so I was expecting this. I'm surprised you're not as excited about it. It is absolutely gorgeous, although I can imagine the fear at spending that much money and not being sure it is authentic. That purple is perfect! How comfortable is it to carry? Is it an armpit bag? I wouldn't worry about there having been no other bids. I've been looking at BV listings for about a month now and I'm seeing very pretty bags get listed and not get any bids. For some reason, BV doesn't resell well even though they are gorgeous. I think they are under the radar for most people. My BV was shipped in an envelope too! I bought a vintage Coach at the same time, and that one was shipped carefully in a box, even though it was much cheaper than the BV.
Hey @whateve! AKA queen of bargains! You got yours for an unbelievable steal! [emoji106]
I dunno, but all the others I had randomly looked at had watchers even though they were in worse condition and were being offered for more $. Several were sold before the time expired. Maybe I'm just a fraidy cat. [emoji28] [emoji23] Right now there are a couple the same color as mine that are well worn but going for the same $ or more. Those also have a bunch of watchers. Maybe it's just the ones I pick. [emoji38]

My joy is back! It just took a while. [emoji12] It is an arm pit bag. So lightweight! The more things you put in it, the more/better it hangs. My things are just enough to make it comfortable to carry when wearing a light jacket. It would not work with a winter coat.

What a story (well worth the wait). I think your BV is absolutely gorgeous—it is the perfect purple indeed. It looks to be in great condition and I am glad you are finally enjoying it after the initial hesitation. I think a part of your let down was that it came so poorly packed. If I understand correctly, this was your first premier bag so maybe you had high expectation of the whole thing. It’s a mystery as to why no one else was watching it. Perhaps because purple is not as popular as a neutral black and brown? Or it was a matter of timing (like all purple BV lovers were out of town at the same time and missed this listing?). In any case, I wouldn’t worry about it and just enjoy your gorgeous bag (sounds like you are finally taking a liking to it). Congrats on the Botkier bag as well — such a classic black bag (crossbody?), btw, I tried on the black double chain tote at BV over Christmas and fell hard for it. Really loved it — perfect size, looked great on me. But I couldn’t get both the BV or a CC so I chose a CC instead. Hopefully I can find a preloved one at some point.

I've had a couple HG bags in the back of my mind for a while. I rarely go there on purpose because I like to be realistic. Plus, I'm also pretty scared of buying second hand and ending up with a fake bag. Anyway, one of the HG's is a BV Veneta bag. I hadn't looked at them in a long time, but then a new- to me- model popped into my radar. You know those ads that show up at the top of a page because you visited a website? Well, the Bottega Veneta Intrecciato Medium Double-Chain Tote Bag in red showed up.:love::love: But at over 3 grand there was no way I could afford this red bag to end the need for any other red bags!:girlsigh: (This bag seems to have sold out. I can't find any pics of it in red, only in black.) Well, I comforted my self by looking at used Venetas on ebay because some of them were way more affordable for me. Yes, I did that randomly for a few months. Then suddenly, there it was, the most gorgeous Veneta in purple at a price I could afford and was willing to pay! Buuut, no one was watching it, there seemed to be no interest in this perfect looking bag. This made me feel suspicious. I had it authenticated and it checked out. Less than half an hour left and still no one else is interested in this bag. Minutes to go and I decide to bid. No one else pops in. This was too good to be true! My heart was pounding! I had never spent that much money on an unknown. (The only other time I spent more money was for my marine Rogue - which I got with PCE. But I did that in store, so I knew it was the real deal. ) Still, I'm satisfied that I had had the bag authenticated and was excited to get it. Fast forward a few days and the bag arrives! In a battered box... ok, as long as the bag is fine inside, I can live with that. I open the box, and the bag is sliding around unprotected in a too big box! :panic: I panic! I feel like I've been duped. How could it be shipped like that??? There is no dust bag of any kind - none was offered in the listing. But, still! What kind of person ships a premier bag like this? One who doesn't care because they have only muuuch fancier bags? One who sells fakes? I got an instant headache. I inspect the bag, and it looks good. My mind thinks, pretty good fake. I paid serious (for me) money for a good fake! :frown::crybaby: I put the bag away for a day so I could calm down before I do anything. A couple days go by and I inspect the bag again. It is pristine and looks like it was never used, but I still feel duped. Another day goes by and i decided to have it authenticated again. Yes, it's the real deal, but I can't manage to find any joy in this bag. I still have a nagging worry. :eek:A few more days pass and I pull it out again. I check it again. The bag is perfect. The size is perfect. The color is perfect - it's my perfect shade of purple. I compare the weave with my Cole Haan. It is so much softer, and more flexible... So I decide that I will use it over the weekend. When I do, I really enjoy it. But I'm still not sure... I had never felt this low about a bag I love. Yes, it's a keeper. Yes, I love it. But it has taken me a looong time to feel good about this bag. Maybe I'm just too sensitive. :blah::lol::lol: (I can't take a picture to do her justice. ) I'm also including a picture of my Botkier. She came at the same time as the Veneta, but I was so bummed I didn't even enjoy her either. She's great though, I used her this weekend.

Omg that is just the most beautiful purple. I am so in love with the BV hobos. Congratulations and enjoy that beauty!

Thank you! It is in perfect condition. The listing said it was only used once. Who knows if that's true, but it sure looks like it. I love the colors so much, I have actually decided to get rid of two of my purple bags. :wtf: I'll keep the BV and a small clutch/crossbody.
Yes, It is my first premier bag. I did not expect anything special in terms of shipping or packaging. I was just shocked at how terrible it was. (I have gotten much better for things that cost a few dollars. ) That coupled with my nervousness about authenticity did me in. I suppose that's what happens when you're a newbie. I think it was a matter of timing. I'm watching a couple more purple ones just for kicks and they have a ton of watchers. In hindsight I'm glad mine didn't. :coolio:
isn't the double chain tote just gorgeous? I don't get why it's called a tote. I see it as a shoulder bag. Oh well. It is stunning with all the weave design in on the flap. It is stunning in the red! Your CC is beautiful too!

Thank you! Are you looking at anyone in particular?

What a pretty shade of purple! I’m glad everything worked out well and you got a good deal and was authentic. [emoji3]
Thanks! I'm relieved. (I'm such a newbie! :giggle:

I love that bright shade of purple! I hope find you feel positive around the new bag now, and enjoy using it!
Thank you! I feel much better about it now. :girlsigh:

I might be able to take pics at a later time, but I ended up “nesting” my smaller bags, my wallets, & SLGs inside of my bigger bags. I put 3 of my Rogues and a Cooper in the bottom of one tote & my Hologram Market Tote, my LV Neverfull, My Ace, and my LV Caissa in the bottom of the other. I was able to nest larger bags in the second grouping. Thankfully the rest of my LVs are foldable and he other Coach bags are somewhat slim. I have 18 large-ish bags and 7 small bags, so it was a jigsaw puzzle for sure.
We are super excited and scared all at once. This move is happening fast- we just started planning in late January. [emoji15]

Congrats on your move! Hope things run as smoothly as possible.

I like how you were able to narrow down which bags to keep. I need to do another round of dating....

Thank you! Are you looking at anyone in particular?

At the moment no ( I have two other bags at the top of my wishlist [emoji16]) but I had played with the Veneta in different sizes and they are so soft but stiff but i guess it’s Bc they were new. I imagine the preloved ones are smooshy. I also like the ones that aren’t all woven. Like this one

Thanks. Your BV is just so gorgeous. I would love to have a true purple bag too. And what do you know? A like-new purple BV popped up on Yoogis this morning. But I can’t buy it due to my no-buy month and lack of purse fund :(. Anyways, can’t believe you are letting go of two purple bags (I love your purple K). Hey, I am wondering if we are talking about the same double chain tote because I don’t remember a flap. Here is the one I tried on and love. Is it the same one you are talking about? Just curious.

Congratulations on sticking with it & staying strong! I am officially joining in the ban! I'm not even going to look. I will keep an eye out for possible future bags shared here; so I know I won't miss anything important, but I'm going to use my huge pile of bags and get to know which I reach for and love.

Thanks. I am so bad/undisciplined — I say I need to be banned but I still look :(. I supposed gorgeous bags are a little like gorgeous men for a married gal like me — I can look but I can’t touch/buy (lol). Great to hear you are joining the ban — at least you got a few gorgeous new bags in before starting your ban :).

Thanks! It’s just nice to have a good number of bags (for me). I’d probably like to downsize even more but I don’t really have the patience for eBay right now. [emoji15]
