Thank you! Much as I want to carry crossbody, I prefer shoulder carry, even with a crossbody strap. Will this work for that? I'm tall and don't mind the bag hanging down by my hip.
Yes, I carry it that way. Half of the time I'm too lazy to put the strap over my head for crossbody. The short strap also fits on the shoulder.

So I was reading in the LV subforum where someone has 3 bags (total I believe) and will be adding a 4th soon. One is a tote, another is full size satchel and the third is a smaller crossbody. She has been using each bag for like at least 1 year straight/continuously. She is around 21 (so maybe haven’t had the time to collect/add bags). Do you think you can do something like that where you have a small capsule collection ( not necessarily 3 bags) and use each bag to death so to speak? It got me thinking about how many bags do I need? It may be more of a question of want vs need. Guess I am always pondering this issue in my head.

I think most of you know i could and have... A few years ago, i bought a bag used it for years then bought another, never changed it, never bothered looking at them etc.

Maybe this is why i am struggling now? I do not need another bag, i really have zero energy to switch out often and am starting to feel(when looking at new bags) what different purpose does this bag serve over what i have...

I should add it truly depends on your personality and lifestyle, some of us do have genuine need for multiple options, sadly i am just not one of them and am slowly returning to that mindset.

If you don’t mind my advice, pace yourself regarding new bags. I did that at the beginning of my bag buying craze/phase and bought way too many (of the same style in different colors, also different styles that are popular here on TPF, etc) and ended up selling many (at a loss). It’s so easy to do that with Coach/contemporary brands with sales, outlets, PCE, etc. Enjoy each bag before moving onto the next new thing (I know, more easily said than done). Have fun.
 Great advice here IM! Easy to fall down the rabbit hole, BTDT... finally climbing back out. So sick of trying to clear out excess and by general standards here(TPF) i own nothing lol....

It’s possible. Just less fun. Haha

I have been carrying the same tote to work for the last year. It’s the best work bag I have and I never want to switch out of it. My smaller bags I use when I’m not at work I do switch on a regular basis. Could I get by with less bags? Definitely. I used to. Right now I can’t seem to part with anymore (need to do check again and see if I want to put any up for sale). Somehow I feel less guilty with a surplus of smaller bags. Maybe because they are small, take up less space, can add a little punch to an outfit, cost less, less of a loss when sold. I do probably need to chill out with buying small black bags for now - hard cause I love a black bag. Lol.

I think about this kind of thing all the time as well. When I use my LV bags I'm super content. I think I don't want anything else and I'll put myself on a LV schedule of purchase eg., one bag a year. But then I go into Coach and they have so many adorable new products. And next thing you know I'm picking one, two, three items. Ack! How many bags and accessories do I really need? Far less than what I own. I'm happy carrying Coach, too. I finally stopped carrying my new burgandy Mercer. I went to the Coach boutique today and it was so cheerful with all the KH items and pretty spring colours.

I would love to have a small collection but not sure I can do it. I think I'm tied emotionally to some of my bags so cannot give them up eg. Coach Sophia's which I don't carry quite as often but I love having them to use when the opportunity arises. So my next strategy would be to limit spending and acquiring. Very, very difficult with the amazing things coming out from Coach and LV.

Totally agree!! So much cute stuff out there and when you can score them on a good deal it makes it even harder resist.

I agree! I find spacing out my purchases I tend to appreciate the bags more. I’ll take an exception for this past month. Lol

I agree 100% with this. I've bought several Coach bags here that I didn't like and really took a hit. I'd like to get a Marco Massaccesi bag, but I'm taking my time to think about it.

Agree —I can’t think beyond 5-10 years for a bag

I have only seen pics of these — gorgeous colors. But functionally, I can’t quite figure out how user friendly it is. I love the look of the cute LV round coin purse but I don’t like to have my coins separate from my dollar bills. I need to figure out a use for it (nope, don’t have ear buds, chargers, etc) because I want one.

I have one and use it just for coins. But I like the idea of having them separate. And it does actually fit dollar bills (like 5 bills folded into fourths) but the bills have gotten stuck in the zipper which I don’t like. They do fit headphones, but I’ve seen some ppl use them for their vitamins/ meds too? Haha

Lol this is great advice. I am such a child and I always think of Toy Story and how Buzz came and knocked Woody off the favorite toy pedestal. I always think about that too with my bags. Like, I actually do thank them for their service when it’s time to put them away.

When I buy bags too close together, I don’t have that sense of love for them than if I bought one every season for example.

Wow. I sound crazy.

That is too cute and sweet that you thank your bags for their service — we honestly need more kindness, appreciation and love in this world (this country for sure!!!!).

Okay, I got one! Thank you! I'm so excited that the short strap fits on the shoulder too. This is my favorite Coach color so far, followed by Dark Teal which is more wearable for me. I wish they still made these. Then again, maybe it's good they don't. ;) My serious ban is about to begin!

It's a great idea! Have you read Marie Kondo's book about looking at your objects and thinking of how you feel? That's what this reminds me of.

This is beautiful that you realize that you have what you need. I'm having a mind shift too. I'm a minimalist wannabe and this bag madness has taken over! The two don't mesh! The only way this is helping me is that I can make my minimal wardrobe look more diverse. ;)
