Audrey also just received a gifted mini Kelly 5p from Fashionphile. I’m so shocked they would gift such a desirable bag especially since it commands such a high resale price.
What makes you think it was gifted to her? She says she got it at fashionphile because it would take too long for her to be offered one at the store. That mini Kelly has been listed on their site for quite some time. I’m guessing she snagged it when it got marked down in price like anyone else could have. (Admittedly, I only watched her IG story on mute but read all the subtitles. If she actually says it was a gift somewhere, please enlighten me.)

She was asked how she got it and She said it was gifted by Fashionphile. She stated on both her tiktok and IG post that she is a fashionphile partner and that the mini Kelly was gifted to her.

Fashionphile does "gift" influencers bags to use for a pre-determined period of time. At the end of that time, the influencers have the option to purchase the bag. She may not be telling the whole story as I've seen other influencers that work with Fashionphile state the terms surrounding thier "gifted" bags. I think she's bound by the same terms and has the option to purchase the bag at the end most likely at a discounted price.

This!

I stopped watching youtube videos and following influencers on social media (for my own peace of mind)--- I only follow consignment stores and i make an opinion/judgement on what i like or do not like on whatever is currently being sold in the market based purely out of personal thinking.

As the wise @acrowcounted has advised me, I needed to stop watching those videos too. I’m in a happier place. YouTubers or instagrammers sell all kinds of half truths or outright lies - “oh I didn’t buy much” when they bought an $18k watch and some wool coats; “I got this from the boutique” when it was from a reseller; “I scored my dream Birkin forever bag or insert item here” and you later see it being sold through their social media profile or Facebook group. Some of them are so good they even fool some sas into thinking they are high rollers when the clients are selling everything they bought. People will do a lot of things these days for likes and views which equates to some kind of payment from the social media sites. And of course there’s the psychological side of needing validation and acceptance. I don’t understand how so many people are such lemmings. Oh wait I forgot sometimes the influencers do giveaways resulting in more fawning over that influencer. Honestly makes me want to gag.

I asked a youtuber once in the comments about how to acquire a specific H bag that they acquired and all they said was "I honestly dont know" (while laughing). How can they not know? That bag is on their hands.... There's a means to an end. Obviously, they got it "not from the store" because theyre not ready to spill info on how they got the bag. So cringeworthy to be honest.

I unsubscribed to influencer YouTube’s and blocked a lot of influencers on Instagram so I don’t see their posts and get manipulated into buying stuff I can’t afford and don’t need. I used to compare myself to influencers and get so jealous about the hard-to-get bags/shoes/clothes they posted about. It was super unhealthy and really affected my happiness. I still have to actively avoid influencers because I am still really easily sucked into that whole world. I personally think it’s gross that influencers are posting unboxings and hauls every week when they are often not spending their own money (or buy it at an extreme discount or with credits or whatever) on these items but they are encouraging you to spend your own money on those same items. It’s so unhealthy and just encourages excessive, mindless spending. It’s not worth your time to wonder how an influencer got a mini Kelly or whatever because it’s their job to sell you stuff and it’s not healthy for a normal person who isn’t incredibly financially privileged to have a bag collection of 20+ bags that are all $5-10k. Don’t let yourself be manipulated by influencers into wanting or buying things they didn’t even spend their money on and probably will resell for double the price in a couple months anyways.

Influencers' currency is your interest and your envy. They will do / portray any image to get that out of you. Do not fall into that trap.

You will be much happier with yourself and the things you have in your life, tangible and intangible, if you eliminate these unnecessary social parasites from your life.
