Influencers and Hermes

how do we know she’s not getting her funds from her parents?? Looks like she lives with them now

Styledbyshishi's husband went to jail TWO years ago. She's been married for 10; posting her luxury buys for the last 8+.
So by your logic, her parents have been buying her luxury items (which she entertains you with) during the entire 10 years of her marriage.... eight of which her husband was working/ out of prison?
If people want to follow her content irrespective of her luxury goods (likely) being funded by blood money and the misery of others, then they are free to do so.

She's part of the whole tiktok friend group that is all up an arms about how some people don't truly appreciate the brand and are only in it for the quota bags (along with another influencer who was discussed in this thread very recently). Mind you half their content is based on how to secure a quota bag. If you want to see for yourself check under the Tiktok user: fordchapman comments under the "hermes journey bs" video. I counted three "influencers" who voiced their support who have a history of very-problematic pasts. I'm actually glad to have followed them for a period of time because it made me realize that influencers don't really tell the truth; they "massage" the truth.

tbh, I don't think she "truly appreciates" the brand, she is clearly just a clout-chaser. It's obvious she only likes hermes because it's hot and she's rich and she likes to show off she can afford it.

I’m genuinely curious, do we actually know whether these influencers have been effective in driving H sales significantly? I would give them some credit but I’m pretty sure that they don’t contribute that sizeable an actual increase.

And is it really H corporate that’s engaging with these influencers or the H SAs/SMs on the ground exercising their own judgment on whether they sell “more” to them? If these influencers are increasing the commissions they take home then from a personal standpoint I wouldn’t fault the H SAs/SMs for taking such decisions, as annoying as the influencer may be.

That’s the mystery. No one officially says they’re partnering or working with Hermes. But it’s kind of a symbiotic relationship. Influencers love Hermes content bc people love Hermes content.

I have no idea but even Tamara buys bait. She may not show a haul but if you check her IG you’ll see Hermes shoes, pants, shirts, scarves etc etc that she’ll wear here and there and it’s new stuff so she’s still buying.

Also who knows how many of these influencers actually have real bags or even bought from the store. I don’t know how much Hermes can do to discourage social media exposure. Although I will say TFBS maybe gave pause to a lot of posers?

I don’t remember who told me this but on the H website there’s a blog and I think it was with MC where he talks about the importance of sm to the brand. I believe H plays close attention to influencers even the micro ones. Just look at mc’s feed and all the people he has taken photos with or even MFau in stories.

I wish I could say that I disagree with something, anything here - but honestly? I can't. Everything that you have written is 100% spot on from my perspective. I can't say that Patek has specifically interviews my husband nor myself for the pieces we have, but I could totally see that and support it.

I'm just old enough that I missed the influencer craze - I do not follow a single one and have no real social media to speak of. That said, I'm familiar with the slumlord's wife as she followed an older IG account I had with a large following, since deleted. Just being totally candid here... I absolutely cannot stand her, her attitude, and the fact that she is so smug about there being actual information about what her husband has done to people, and animals, heartbreakingly, and continues to parade purchases et al for all to see. It sounds as if other influencers are annoying as well, but she just is intolerable IMO.
I’ve heard this happen in Europe re the Patek interview. They are also doing it for ap in some countries in Europe. The point being these brands seem to really care about brand image. Rolex also makes efforts. Last year when I bought a watch they took all the plastic off the watch and I’ve been a long time client. I know they blacklist resellers too. Maybe H ought to start taking plastic off all the hardware on all bags before the client walks out the store. Might discourage the resellers.

That’s a really interesting question… when I was in the store a couple weeks ago, my SA asked me if I follow someone on TikTok, and I’m not on sm (except this forum) so I told him I don’t know that person. He was like oh you should follow her and we watch her stuff to see what’s new! And he was really excited that she was just at the store and did a “thing”, like she was a celebrity. (Which I guess if you are into influencers, meeting someone you follow would be akin to meeting a celebrity.) So I could definitely see it happening at the store SM/SA level.

Wow this is so bizarre.

DH is a Patek AND AP guy (he loves watches), buys in US and Europe, and has never been interviewed or any such thing. I do know that both those brands actively court specific people: we have a few friends who get this treatment (they're not influencers, just famous and love watches). Very different from an influencer program or this odd spray and pray approach that Hermès is either actively taking or passively allowing to happen.

They did it to me.

Hmm! I don't agree with this and do not like the idea of forcing a customer to do anything with *their* bag that *they* purchased with *their* money. I do know some girlfriends that keep plastic on simply to protect the hardware of their bags. I personally do not like the look of plastic & immediately remove, but that should be my decision alone.

Anyway, to stay OT, I do believe that H has embraced the influence culture to an extent, but not overtly so. It's very likely just a relevance play.
