I agree, but then there's Jaime Chua. I think she does it cause she has really nothing else to do! LOL now that's a person that lives in Luxury. She's totally like the movie Crazy Rich Asians. I don't think she has to worry about only 2 bags a year. I am sure her BF has his own sales history too. So that would be four bags a year. But then again she has over 200? Even the Diamond Himalaya! I do like her for some odd reason. It's like nothing to her to drop 50K on a bag.

On another note... Allegedly, I heard that a lot of YT influencers that do these Luxury hauls buy them and then sell them on the resale market or ebay for less. So they are making some of their money back. As based on their followers, the don't have enough to monetize their channel.
Yep! Allegedly Alyssa Lenore's SO birkin, with exact specifications, was seen on fashionphile, Nata Birkin sellier 25 with toffee interior. Listed for 37k, not sure what it went for. Crazy but not surprising.... just makes me wonder why you would let go of a SO that you specifically designed to your liking!

This is what I think and only my opinion. People get offered an SO bag and they go through it all that time with their SA to pick colors, leather, stitching, hardware, etc. Wait a few months up to a year or more. Then they get the "call" that their bag has come in. They rush to the store, the unboxing as it's probably still in the plastic-wrapped box. Then they looked and they died a little bit inside, thinking what the F**K was I thinking. Then out of embarrassment, they don't want to tell their SA that they hate it or it didn't come out to what they thought, in their best "poker face", they say they love it!! And buy the bag. Then flip it on the resale market. I am sure that H or someone looks at HSS/SO bags on resale sites and they are aware of who it was made for. LOL

But on another note, have you seen some of the HSS/SO bags on the resale market? They do get better prices because of that Horseshoe stamp. But some of those bags are really UGLY! Once again, my opinion only!

Because she's a reseller as evidenced from how she rotates through her bag collection. She's now selling her vintage caramel Chanel flap. Probably funding another Hermes bag, who knows

I mean, this is really it. These guys are all just hustling, some with real knowledge/understanding - some with, um, a bit less. But it's all about money in the end, or for a few, about fame. Everyone wants an edge and they will keep trying to one-up each other. As long as someone consumes what they are creating, they will keep doing it.
Definitely. Tania in particular gives off some serious “pick me” energy. The “I’m not like the other girls, what I’m doing hasn’t been done before” when it’s exactly as you say, the same hustle. Just with a different face. And apparently a Paris roadmap bonus that can be yours for the low price of $49.

Also, if you have to justify “I don’t need to sell this so don’t try to bargain” when trying to resell your bag, I automatically think you genuinely need to sell for top dollar because you can’t afford to keep it. It’s quite ironic that these supposed Hermès die hard lovers are first in line with reselling.

Social media and viral-once influencers have me very intrigued. Idk how many times you can wave the same blue mini Kelly around before people get tired of your same-same content. It certainly is entertaining.

Agreed! Those ugly/weird H SO concoctions are how I know money cannot buy taste haha
Funny thing is I actually liked Alyssa's, especially with it being relatively tame - nata is breathtaking, it's one color, and has a neutral interior! Would have preferred retourne but still gorg.
However, I think the resale price was way too good for her to pass up, so she had to let it go. Once again, showing that an influencer is faking her lux life, just like many of the others we talked about here on this thread

If you have to constantly sell things in your wardrobe to afford the next item, you cannot afford your luxury lifestyle.

I know who you're talking about. If she can allegedly afford several Hermes quota bags, then why does she need to sell a $50 roadmap? The roadmap doesn't guarantee a bag either, we all know how competitive and nearly impossible it is to get a leather appointment. I hope no one is falling for this scam...
I looked her up online. She said in insta that she works in IT. Well her job is actually an inside sales rep. Inside sales rep in Tech makes just around $100k or so. It's usually a job for fresh grads or those who want to move to tech but have no experience. She prolly married a rich man?

I think they unbox fake items or these people are buying/selling to afford their next item and/or they’re maxing out cc. I’ve seen one instagrammer who regularly buys and sells to afford the next thing and she even admits it. There’s another instagrammer/ YouTuber who seems to have an unboxing every week and shared all her spend and bags from last year but then came out with a video stating she got some mini k that she hadn’t shared. Interestingly she also has a replica cartier bangle that she claims is real gold and someone made for her. Given the number of unboxings, her reselling in fb groups, her replica bangle and tendency to flex can we believe that mini k actually came from the store? That it’s not a replica?

Of course people can do whatever they want with their money, but it does seem antithetical to the definition of luxury when you see these influencers in what looks like college level furniture from ikea. Maybe they’re just prioritizing luxury and that’s their thing and don’t care about spending on other stuff. But I can bet most are also not saving any money or investing either. People who actually have funds to spend at H or on luxury regularly generally live in the nice neighborhoods, have the nice houses and have the nice furniture and landscaping.

There seems to be some kind of shopping addiction with those influencers you mentioned and need for validation. They seem to constantly want that purchase high. Social media is largely a factor I think but also the banks who keep handing out credit to these irresponsible people.

I saw an article about how 25% of gen x has nothing saved for retirement, 35% has less than 10k and 25% has between 10 and 50k. Around 1% has between 50 and 200k saved and the remaining 14% have over 200k saved. These are pretty shocking numbers.

Also the below 60 minutes story is quite shocking. I think this generally the mindset of luxury influencers.

I watched this video not long ago as well. My husband was with me and we were both shocked. I make more than this lady and I don't shop til I drop at all. Haha. No credit cards as well. We're just so afraid of debt that we would rather save up for something before we buy it. Like if I want a bag, I tell myself to wait a couple of months and if I still like it then I will buy it. Or if its no longer available then it's not meant to be. So far, it helped me not make any rash purchases. Also clothes. Geez. I don't need a new pair of jeans every week either.

I knew there was a dirty underworld but I didn't think about the influencers......

I recognised that woman. She is a blogger from Australia. I followed her for a while. She never mentioned she had been an air-hostess. She introduced herself as a self-employee, working from home (IT?) and talked about a French style and her B/K.
This content surprised me a lot. She tried all directions to extend her YT blog. And what I hear now

I think there is some truth in what she says. Not sure about the specifics, but I heard before that Dubai is an escorting hotspot.

I said there are a lot of them..not all..so if Jaime rolls that way and she can truly afford it, well and good.

Therefore, they are losing money. Just like in stocks, the original rule was to buy low and sell high..and not vice-versa!

Jamie Chua is very likeable despite leaving so much carbon footprint on earth lol. She has great sense of humor. Despite all the high end products she showcase, she doesnt appear like an airhead to me. Her partner is also very hilarious. I actually like him more as an influncer than Jamie. His stories and captions on the stories just make me laugh.
Jamie is likeable bc she makes fun of herself and has no airs about her.

Got suggested this video. Must have ran out of American Hermes unboxing so the algo is working the overseas circuit.

If you want a new variety on the Hermes/Idyl click bait one two punch here it is. Asmr version. She doesn’t talk in the video. It’s actually nicely done. Lots of eye candy and the idyl plug almost went unnoticeable.
