Influencers and Hermes

I was wondering about how she got her offers which made me question if getting a Birkin is not as competitive in Mexico City and in Barcelona as in Los Angeles/OC or if she just clicked with an SA there who happens to recognize her through her social media or if she uses her family’s connections. She definitely comes from money. I think her last job was a sailor and she was a student.
When she was in Mexico, she got three offers within about a year and a half of shopping at Hermes by buying two items (the shoes and the blanket): Two B25s and a K25. First of all, Hermes has a well known two QB a year rule, getting three desirable bags and breaking this 2 QB a year rule within such a short time period seems impossible if her profile or the profile she is using at Hermes isn't a VVIP profile. If these bags are indeed authentic (which I don't believe all are) and she managed to get them from the boutique, there is nothing wrong with acknowledging that your parents fund your lifestyle and give you advantages by shopping with your family profile at Hermes.

I mean I get it, a very privileged girl with a strong family profile at Hermes isn't going to get as many clicks as this lucky small youtuber that scored 3 bags at her Hermes boutique by buying two items, but at some point this is getting ridiculous.

I came across this thread on her… tattle.life (je-suis-lou.29774)…

What a RIDE. That closeup of her gold Birkin was an obvious fake especially when I compared it to some pictures of real ones.

You guys are making me scared. I got my Birkin from a reseller.

The gold birkin is not even a high tier fake. The stamping is faded and the stitch count is lower than an authentic B25

I tried taking a picture of my stamp and stitching. Depending on the angle and the zoom the stamping can look thinner at times. Also, the stamp is affected by the togo grains.

I believe that a lot of established resellers have an authenticity guarantee and if the bag is not authentic (worst case scenario), they will refund you. I would send pictures of your bag to bababebi to get it authenticated for peace of mind!

Interesting article/interview by @Notorious Pink

I have mixed feelings about the subject matter (the account, what they do, etc).

Ooo thanks for sharing!

I find their content interesting but at the same time I find their intentions questionable. For example, their response to the question of why they started their page. They mention several personal complaints before mentioning anything about ethics.. also, they've not mentioned anything to their following about refraining from making nasty comments and **the affect that those comments may have, as if they're enabling it. Idk...

The FBS has been wrong at least a handful of times and never apologizes to the person they just unleashed bullying and harassment on from their 100k+ followers. If you click through to the profile of the person they post, you can see how nasty and personal these comments can get. So for that I cannot support them. I know I’d be gutted to not only be falsely accused of carrying a fake but for my physical appearance to be attacked as well.

Our own @Notorious Pink interviews theFakeBirkinSlayer. I wonder how many of tpf members are a part of the TFBS group exposing the fakes?

Whilst I totally support the destruction of not only counterfeit goods but the whole anti-industry that supports them. I don't like the idea of pointing fingers and making people uncomfortable in their everyday lives.

At the end of the day, TFBS is just making his name on the back of the word 'Birkin' - just like MetaBirkin (NFTs). What better to pump yourself into some lauded Hermes Expert than to decree whether or not someone is carrying real/fake? Hermes would be appalled by this behaviour even though they would burn a Firkin. Just another riding on a brand's coattails IMO.

Firstly, we are not a French gendarme, secondly, we are not Hermes - let them police the streets, thirdly, it doesn't bug me that much - unless they're a friend I had planned to take into H that day with me.

I see tens of fake bags/items every day, imitations of many different brands, what does it matter that the person is trying to pass off a H bag rather than a fake LV? FBS just wants his clicks.

Can you imagine the shame if someone pointed the finger, worse still can you even think what it's like to be wrongly accused? Mortifying!

Hey birkin slayer! We see you using words like “buy what you love” “needs patience” and Hermes is not “fast fashion” sounds like quotes from the maintaining an h SA relationship thread:lol:

In all seriousness tho. What are their credentials? What’s their end goal? Just to expose to who? Like they said in the article they don’t know most of the people they are calling out! Are they confiscating fakes, reporting to H, etc? Otherwise this is just more social media drama that will be gone shortly. Or is this gatekeeping gone too far?

Caitlyn does a 1 year review of her preloved birkin. While she enjoys the bag, she basically just said it felt like a box to check off. I’m sure it’s been discussed to death before (buying preloved birkin/Kelly vs in store) but I feel that she would feel differently about the Birkin if she actually “ played the game” ?

Birkins are portrayed as The Ultimate Luxury Bag. And it’s a beautiful bag, hand made out of exquisite materials.

But at the end of the day, it’s a big tote bag with a weird clasp that can only be hand carried.

If you aren’t a tote person, you’re going to hate it. If you like shoulder bags, ditto. If you like a little more security in your bag closures - Birkin isn’t for you.

I felt a little let down when I first got my Kelly. Because I had gotten caught up in the elegance of vintage photos, and was shopping for my imaginary self rather than my real human life. And somehow, the bag didn’t give me the elegance of Grace Kelly, or the grace of Audrey Hepburn, or the je ne sais quoi of Catherine Deneuve. They were all things I had to find within myself.

So a Birkin is a beautiful thing. But it’s just a thing. Sometimes it takes the folly of owning it before you realize it, however
