Agreed. I think it's hard for Hermes to give special treatment to micro influencers at a company level when most opportunities are given to these people at each SM's discretion.Just chiming in on the topic of whether influencers are given special treatment.
Like some others on TPF, I personally have doubts that Hermes as a brand (i.e. the company overall) gives any extreme special treatment to influencers. A bit of favors here and there - maybe a rodeo/pegasus charm that won't be shown to every regular customer, or slightly less pre-spend for a BKC - sure, I'd believe that. But I doubt it's anything major like getting a BKC offer after only spending 2-3k. At least in my head, the pros/cons of such special treatment simply don't balance: pro of the advertising to that influencer's followers vs. the backlash the brand will receive once the general public (+ their loyal customer base) finds out.
But what I think hasn't been mentioned yet is the human factor - i.e. the SAs and SMs. SAs are human and they are surely actively engaging in social media too. If they recognize a youtuber who walks into the store, if they like their style, their personality, yes I believe then the SA'd be more willing (compared to an average customer) to talk to the SM about a BKC offer, even SO offer. This is of course applicable to non-influencer customers too (duh), and even outside Hermes; if you hit it off with someone, you’re more willing to do nice things for them! But in general, considering a youtuber (vs. a regular customer/walk-in) probably the conversation alone would be more interesting than your average customer, no? I'm polite and make small chat with my SA but our conversations are hardly stimulating, and I imagine most of her day is filled with people like me. But if a youtuber walks in, hey it'd instantly be a bit more intriguing! I can see how that would work beneficially towards the influencer lol.
Maybe this is already obvious to TPFers but just adding my two cents because I really enjoy reading this particular thread haha
I wonder though if Hermes gives special opportunities to mega influencers though like people who write high traffic blogs and articles or even major celebrities. Very interesting to think about. Glad you brought it up.
