Influencers and Hermes

I wish brands understood that influencers don't entice people to buy. If anything, it turns me off.
I'm sure it works on some people and to a certain degree if they really like that influencer and their style. But I agree that there is way too much influencer marketing lately and it absolutely turns people off. You lose the relatability illusion.

Me going through this thread: where's my popcorn?

Would love to ask TFPers in this thread, how many influencers have you seen that seem like they have shopping addiction? Because I've gotten the impression that the general consensus right now is ONLY Hermes is worth buying? So a lot of people might convince themselves they're saving money and shopping less or being more mindful with their consumption by not buying from other brands but then chase after Hermes bags?
Here’s the problem, and I am only speaking for myself here, but these influencers have made so many video saying Hermès is the pinnacle and as they’ve climbed that mountain, they’ve spit on every other brand on their way up. Posting that such and such brand isn’t the same as it used to be, or Gucci is gauche (or “for those living paycheck to paycheck 😂 IYKYK), to the point that they are embarrassed to be seen in anything that isn’t Hermès, Lori Piana, etc. and now some of these SAME influencers have stopped suckling at the Hermès teat.

Makes sense. I bet at least part of it is the fast speed of content and social media. You always have to have new stuff and new content to attract people. They might have just speedrun their hermes and handbag collecting journey. The fast fashion of everything, if you will.

For influencers that buy fake bags to make content and "look the part" I would be way more interested in their content if people just admitted they couldn't afford Hermes bags or other designer bags. I don't feel comfortable spending money on an Hermes bag! You could make so much content and have a whole arc of saving up money to buy your first Hermes bag instead of just getting the bag and making one unboxing video.

I feel like this would be very entertaining to watch but I also feel like it’d be very hard to film that as an influencer if you don’t have hardened thick skin.

Influencers who buy fake bags are trying to sell the vision of affluence whereas Hermes is kind of the antithesis of wealth building influencers, where they’d probably get flamed by their audience for buying Hermes and playing the game even though they’d have the funds.

The smug obnoxiousness. 🙄

That croc with the black Ap though... woah 😍 🙈 🙈

I am kind of a sucker for the ultra glam influencers lol. I follow a bunch of girls mainly from the gulf states that don't show their identity just show their bling and bags. I will have to share some faves on here. They are a little too flashy for my day to day but I really adore the glitz 🙈🙈🙈

Two watches on the same wrist? Really?
Agreed - the two mini APs stacked looks awful. I like Tamara though but this stack isnt great

It is a massive turn off. There's a Slavic influencer H is constantly inviting to shows and showering with bags who shops in NYC who takes photos topless or sheer with no bra under on the streets of nyc and red carpet, photographing herself sticking up the middle finger, obviously on a lot of drugs, you name it. It seems H has a very flexible view of what an appropriate brand fit is.

Well if the other brands are 'trashy' or 'cheap' and now they're off Hermes, what's next for them? Bespoke? That's not very financially sustainable either long term.

The self-proclaimed Birkin Woman who sold roadmaps is now going on rants about why women need prenups. 😂 😂 😂 Uh-oh. Is the ex trying to snatch a portion of her online empire?! Or the birkins?! This is juicy. Also has a segment about knowing your partners financials saying she wishes she would have asked certain questions. Is she is shading the ex?
