Influencers and Hermes

Agreed. That person posted some fakes for sure, but I can't believe we are going wild over some rando anon with zero credentials.
Right! People love drama and engagement lol! Yes some were fake and OBVIOUSLY fake. It doesn’t take an authenticator to recognize those. Not to mention I don’t know any of them so they didn’t influence me in *any* way

I just watched a youtuber talk about how they put all their money including savings toward luxury. They don’t get haircuts but cut their own hair. I was shocked watching this video. At least they are being honest, but I think this shows some kind of underlying issues and level of addiction with some influencers. I don’t get why so many seem to be in some kind of mad rush to get all the bags on their wish list. They’re selling bags or giving up necessities just for a bag! I saw another YouTuber say they sold a bag to buy a couch. Are these people completely mad? I don’t get it. Why such a hurry? I don’t believe that once they have these bags that they will be able to satiate their persistent appetite to spend and get that luxury high. Does Hermes really want these type of clients? The ones who give up necessities or anything nice just to shop the brand?

I have been on this forum quite some time now. I have read on this very forum people preferring to eat certain types of cheap food, give up traveling, drive certain vehicles, sell one bag to fund the next, etc just to be able to afford luxuries. That sadly is nothing new and not influencer specific. I guess maybe it's more widely talked about. H and others have been taking this type of client.

ETA: I personally do not care how people choose purchase their items or what they choose to give up. I am a to each their own type.

I can believe it, but I've never heard it actually hear them broadcast how they do it. I wish they would do it more, as often times they appear to have luxury purchasing abilities that are too good to believe. Can you share which influencers you saw were being honest?

I also don't care how people fund their purchases, I'm just really sick of the IG life versus real life, and social media as a whole has influenced some of the population to feel less than because they can't afford a certain lifestyle, buy certain luxury items, or think that they need procedures to make them look airbrushed on their social media when we're now a society of filters in every sense of the word.

Looks like that Instagram account is focusing on obvious fakes - bags in specs that H has never made, bags with obviously wrong proportions or other glaring issues, etc. basically fakes that you can tell literally from a glance. And we know there are much, much better (super)fakes out there that are hard to tell, that requires an experienced authenticator carefully inspecting the bags with a magnifying glass. And we know a lot of people will mix and match authentic and fake goods.

Please don’t trust much of what you see on the internet, really!! And I know it can be hard but try not to let them influence 1. your happiness, at the end of the day it’s just a (very expensive) bag, and 2. your enjoyment of the authentic items that you own and love, hopefully for reasons that are more than just showing them off to other people. (Not saying that you can’t do a little of that, I’m here on tPF myself after all :P )
There’s a very good saying I try to keep in mind: Rememeber when you wanted what you currently have. A few very good authentic items that someone truly loves and uses is worth so much more than acquiring just to acquire.
