Influencers and Hermes

She's kinda click baiting with the first thing she about spend at the beginning of the video. She has so many offers of great bags before that B25. I think what she actually "pre-spent" for that B25 excluding leathers/bags is quite reasonable
To be fair, "I spent $60k total to get my Birkin" is more appropriate for a wider audience who doesn't know much about how H works  If you say "Well I spent $60k total, but $30k of which is on leather goods so that doesn't count", you'd come across a little delusional and crazy to the average person

Just did the quick math and got the same thing - around 30k in "pre-spend" categories. Am I delusional for thinking even the 3x spend for a normal leather qb shouldn't be normalized (esp your first one)? 🙈 I know it is the direction H has been going but it's crazy to me how casually she says it (no hate to her, i love her page). i would have gotten annoyed and just gone to a reseller. I get her leather items probably delayed the quota offer, but I do feel like after a certain point someone's shown their 'loyalty'. There's another youtuber I follow who just started shopping in SF and got two nice offers at much lower ratios. Sigh.
I think pre-spend matters, but so does the time during which it was accrued. One $30k shopping trip is different from $30k spread over 6 months, or in her case - $30k spread over 3 years. The other Youtuber could have spent less but in a much shorter timeframe, hence coming across as a customer with higher spending potential in the eye of Hermes. Or they could just be luckier, I don't know.

Either way, if you check the Spending Threshold thread, 3:1 is the suggested ratio for a desirable B25/K25 in 2024. I don't know if we have any choice in "normalizing" it  You either want the bag from the store, or you don't.

Well that is a good point. It’s ultimately H consumers who spend the pre spend ratio norms.

On the topic of her 60k number, I have met a couple people who don’t realize non quota bag spend doesn’t count towards prespend - so she might not even have not been fully aware when she began buying

Actually she’s counting prespend for her non qb as well. So when she does the math she actually says she got her birkin for 1:1.

Yeah she was trying to say 1:1 spend for all her non-quotas and birkin, but that’s her incorrectly assuming prespend completely restarts when she accepts Non QB offer. Whatever math mental gymnastics makes her feel better, I guess 🙈

I have definitely had snobby comments made at the store. When the bag straps first came out I stopped by the store. My SA just moved to another city so I did not work with anyone specific. I had flip flops, white t shirt and jeans on. I asked about the straps and the random SA I approached said: we are going to get only five in. So YOU (looking me up and down) are definitely not getting one.
This story could have been good for overheard at H if it wasn’t from years ago.
I still agree that it is suspicious that one person gets horrible treatment over and over again.
I must sadly admit that I agree. Years ago, when I entered the branch with my Burberry trench coat, black Chanel Classic Flap bag, and VCA earrings, the SA told me, "We don't have any bags to sell to you."

It varies from SA to SA and for me has nothing to do with how I dress (I always dress badly as I'm overweight and very tall and have bad frizzy hair lol).
One SA sat down with me without a reason and talked about oncoming Tate Modern & Rijksmuseum exhibitions, another put me on impossible-to-get-on wishlist after first time seeing me, just because we talked about bag colours and the others gave me bad eye and clear contempt and said "I was VEEERY LUCKY that XX put me on a wishlist' or ignored me in the store.
Hard to believe that the influencer had so many bad experience but maybe it's true, it's her recollections over the years and probably she cut out a lot of good stuff.

Can’t figure out how to send a link to a specific item on posh, but it appears Tania is selling her H Constance on Poshmark… lol. How interesting is that. https://poshmark.com/closet/tantonenkova
She’s talked so much about how hard it is to open and use this bag, and now she’s trying to sell it for an outrageous amount. She also blabs on and on about not being a reseller. Interesting…
