Influencers and Hermes

I have no idea who you are talking about as I don't follow any influencers.
I used to quite like Tamara because she has great style but I never 'followed' her and now I don't bother watching her because tbh If I wanted to listen to people talking about themselves non-stop I'd have become a therapist.
But back to Maria D (whoever she is :confused1: ) I find it highly unlikely that she got offered A kelly in August and a MK in the boutique from an SA she's only been with 3 months.
I'd take that with a grain of salt.
That was Alyssa Lenore.

 There is a lot of excellent content on you tube- but those H influencers are a waste of time. They can be quite agitating actually. When I am looking for bag inspiration I come here- this forum is still the original and the best.

One of my favorites- Dayles Addiction! Do NOT come for her about Hermes though (pleeeease)… she is new to Hermes - and I have never laughed soooo hard! Her “journey” into Hermes was refreshingly blind and made me take stock of “the game”! She has a wonderful sense of humor.

Do you think she'll keep it? Not coming for her at all, just genuinely curious since she's said in the past that she's not really a fan of Hermes (or at least, the brand's "games").

I wish we were back to when people give reviews as a hobby and because they enjoy doing it and helping other people make informed decisions before purchasing. We see both good and bad reviews just the same.

Because of “monetization”, the act became a source of income and/ or a fulltime job. Cmon, why would a brand/ vendor pay someone to review their product if the person will just give a negative review. Even if they disclose it that the review was sponsored.

Oh and btw, doesnt AL promote Rebag as a consignment store? Pls correct me if im wrong. But if she does, shes all for the money shes being paid for. Rebag sells counterfeit and i have a personal experience with them.
That’s pretty much what The Purse Forum was designed for - and what it used to be like. Well, before people started thinking they had to bake cookies for their SA, dress a certain way to enter a boutique, or spend thousands of dollars on a trip to Paris in the hopes of being offered a Birkin (coulda just spent them extra dolla bills at AFF or Yoogis and skipped standing in line like a lemming). Then instagram happened, and people only wanted to see unboxings, the shiny new things, fake lips & fur coats, get caught up in (what is my opinion only) a fake online life/persona and *gasp* buy $10K bags off an instagram seller. TPF never changed, but unfortunately, a lot of OG Hermes ladies stopped posting. They were the true (early) influencers - so many names newer members wouldn’t recognize, but were a wealth of information.
I think it’s time for TPF to reclaim it’s space in the influencer world, but it means that everyone has to start posting pics of their stuff in the “in action” threads or elsewhere, and participate/engage in other discussions. Even if all you have is a Calvi or one scarf. Influencers don’t answer your questions like TPFers do - and some of them have the patience of a saint.

You are my hero :heart::biggrin:

tbh I can't stand to watch an unboxing anymore. It feels like they're inhaling these luxury items instead of savoring the experience and appreciating the bag. "Look what I got, what's next?" I have unfollowed many flexers, accounts like Bagsionista and even smaller accounts like Vintage Kelly Girl because the teasers of orange box photos and then countdown clocks til unboxing is cringeworthy (especially for a Calvi or a Twilly!) Who is sitting by the clock waiting to see what they got? I would like to know.

As for the individual mentioned in previous posts accused of plagiarism, none of her bags are exceptional, in my estimation. The drawn out reveal stories are over the top and nauseating. I unfollowed her long ago because she regurgitates old stories like "price increases!!" from six months ago that gets everyone in a tizzy every time until they realize it's old news. How about all the rumors she starts that haven't come to fruition such as certain bag styles being discontinued? She's not a reliable source by any means. She once posted a Breaking News story about the Tiffany's NYC fire...a month after it happened.

I'm happy to stick with Stella W and The Hermes Club, beautiful pics, I learn something, love to see leather and color comparisons. I don't really need to follow anyone else.

She’s cute and I occasionally like to watch her and Conor but they said Fendi was the same craftsmanship as Hermes…..I’m like girrrrl. I have both but no they are not. Sure maybe Hermes isn’t 6x better but they are not the same level. IMHO.

But anyways… I get that she’s a Fendi fangirl.

I’ve been a member of tpf since 2016 and I’m also on the other side of the discussion as an “influencer”. My H journey began around the time I joined this community and it has certainly aided in navigating the world of H. I agree that the OG members should post more so people don’t have to rely on these clickbait posts/videos on scoring a bag.

I think it’s interesting that H has invited so many fashion influencers to their recent PFW when a handful of them have only been supporting the brand within the last 3 years (and the rest maybe have 1 QB at best). Someone noted that H doesn’t need the publicity, so why are they inviting so many influencers? I personally think it cheapens the brand image and they should be hosting more events for their dedicated, non-influencer clientele.

I saw that Aimee Song attended both PFW and a beauty press trip for the new eyeshadow launch. I followed her years ago and in one of her posts or vlogs (I don’t remember which), she specifically said she would “never spend so much on a bag”. She also said that the only QB she owns was purchased secondhand and is shared with her sister. From her recent posts it seems like she scored something from FSH and the retail price of the bag is higher than when she said they’re too expensive. I think this change in attitude from deploring H for being too expensive to pretending she’s supported them all along is an example of why people believe influencers are disingenuous.

For those wondering, I wanted to clarify that I don’t use my status as an “influencer” when it comes to H. I personally feel that I’ve been able to build lasting relationships with both my home store and fsh because the SA sees my passion for the brand beyond QB. I’m reading this thread as I’m enroute to Chicago H’s opening party and it was a fascinating read!

I think you’re being a little harsh. If you ask me 10 years ago, I’d also say I would never spend this much money on a bag. But people’s style, and more importantly, income change with time. Maybe a H bag was expensive to her at the time, but not anymore.
