Influencers and Hermes

Ahhhh thanks for the explanation.
When I first came across her blog, I too thought she was affiliated with PurseForum. It was the pink/black color scheme and the website template with the black bar at the top. It makes sense now that it was intentionally confusing.

I’m sorry they stole the articles you took time to write :-s

I am sorry she steals your writings/articles. Probably because she has no inspiration?

Are you talking about Purse Bo* ?

If she can steal articles that should tell you about a person like her . It’s terrible and to type it like if it was hers WOW !

NP, I didn't know this story (I'm not a reader of that blog) but I am so very sorry to hear it. :hugs::flowers:

This whole thread is very enlightening. Until now I also assumed PB was affiliated with PurseForum because so much of the content is from here. Just wow

I have noticed that for sure, it's no coincidence. I agree that it's more sad than anything, and I applaud you for having the strength of character to rise above it (I don't know if I could). Her articles are poorly written, even when copied from your articles.

A few years back, I used to avidly follow her posts on Hermes products and updates. However, I later discovered that some of her posts were plagiarized from this forum, which made me question the authenticity of her content. Specifically, I found her reveal posts to be off-putting, and her promotion of a reseller particularly questionable.

This experience left me with a sense of disappointment as it highlighted the prevalence of dishonest and fraudulent practices in social media. It's disheartening to see people resorting to stealing and lying in order to maintain a certain image or reputation that they don't truly deserve.

:hugs:  :ghi5: :hugs: :hbeat:

I just wanted to thank you guys for the love and support. I love the people here, and all the wonderful ladies (and gents!) with the terrific information was the reason I started writing for PurseBlog in the first place (gotta share the joy!) Initially the plagiarism bothered me a lot, but I got over it...I just think of the kind of person who does that, and really, it's someone with not much else going on in their life.

My problem is not lack of ideas, it's lack of time!

I wish we were back to when people give reviews as a hobby and because they enjoy doing it and helping other people make informed decisions before purchasing. We see both good and bad reviews just the same. Because of “monetization”, the act became a source of income and/ or a fulltime job.
Once I get my act together I plan to be doing more of that. I have so many fun ideas and I can't wait to start! TBH, DS2 is a High School Senior who is also on the football team, and we began a full house renovation in June, so between the renovations, the football games, the college visits, and ten Early Action College Applications due by 11/1 (plus of course taking care of myself and my marriage to a very patient and well-H-trained DH ;) ), I haven't had any time for it. The drawings will come back eventually, too, but I've been putting some fun and informative projects on the back burner while I get my kids through high school and at least on a post-College path (DS1 has decided to take the LSATs :sweatdrop: ).

I’ve been a member of tpf since 2016 and I’m also on the other side of the discussion as an “influencer”. My H journey began around the time I joined this community and it has certainly aided in navigating the world of H. I agree that the OG members should post more so people don’t have to rely on these clickbait posts/videos on scoring a bag.

I think it’s interesting that H has invited so many fashion influencers to their recent PFW when a handful of them have only been supporting the brand within the last 3 years (and the rest maybe have 1 QB at best). Someone noted that H doesn’t need the publicity, so why are they inviting so many influencers? I personally think it cheapens the brand image and they should be hosting more events for their dedicated, non-influencer clientele.

I saw that Aimee Song attended both PFW and a beauty press trip for the new eyeshadow launch. I followed her years ago and in one of her posts or vlogs (I don’t remember which), she specifically said she would “never spend so much on a bag”. She also said that the only QB she owns was purchased secondhand and is shared with her sister. From her recent posts it seems like she scored something from FSH and the retail price of the bag is higher than when she said they’re too expensive. I think this change in attitude from deploring H for being too expensive to pretending she’s supported them all along is an example of why people believe influencers are disingenuous.

For those wondering, I wanted to clarify that I don’t use my status as an “influencer” when it comes to H. I personally feel that I’ve been able to build lasting relationships with both my home store and fsh because the SA sees my passion for the brand beyond QB. I’m reading this thread as I’m enroute to Chicago H’s opening party and it was a fascinating read!
I agree with everything you said - and you know I love following you! :hugs:

I think a lot of the recent H-attention towards influencers has to do with getting the eyes of a younger crowd; if these people attend events, they will be talking about it on their social media accounts. Even if these influencers do not become big spenders, they are going to bring people to the boutiques and website (even I, as comparatively little as I do, get hugs from SAs who make sales from photos I post), and even if they themselves don't build those lasting relationships that Hermès values, again, some of their followers may - whether its this year, buying the makeup or the more wallet-friendly pieces, or sometime down the road when they are older.

This is just not a good person. First, she clearly chose her name to be purposefully confusing with PurseBlog, and over the years it’s also become pretty clear that one of her chief sources of information is (and/or has been) PurseForum and PurseBlog. I personally have had my work pretty blatantly plagiarized by them*, and was told by numerous people that this was just par for the course, and something that blog does regularly. It used to bother me, but honestly, it’s more sad than anything else. I believe that she has come to rely on the blog for her self-worth. Friends who have met her at events (funny enough I’ve never seen her in person, although I know we have attended the same events…maybe she avoids me ) have remarked on her vapid-yet-palpably-desperate personality.

I’m sure there are other issues, these are just the ones I have experienced personally.

* the first time I noticed this was fairly comical, with me getting a few paragraphs in and thinking to myself, “why does this article sound so familiar??”, and then suddenly realizing that it was a very slightly altered version of an article I had written. I mean - I had created a list within the article, and she didn’t even bother to change the order of the list! If you find that article, you can see my comment at the end calling it out; she never bothered to read or respond to it. :shrugs:

Gosh, I had no idea, thanks for sharing this with us. I'm so sorry this happened to you, so frustrating and annoying, and I'm glad you've moved on. I assumed writers were able to contribute to various websites on a contract basis. Now that I know, I will be making changes. Thank you for your informative, delightful, and well-written articles, we appreciate you!

So, Bryanboy gets a Kellydole Picto around the 17th of July

Goes to Ibiza in August and has his luggage stolen, including the Kellydole Picto he just unboxed a month earlier

Goes to Paris fashion week, has lunch with Michael Coste

Gets a new Kellydole Picto in dark blue with croc back pocket, an even rarer bag compared to his stolen one (regular Kellydole Pictos usually have the epsom detachable back pocket)

Fascinating.

Nata Picto is from NYC
Blue Picto is from somewhere else
Picto Doll is not a quota bag

Seeing Michael for lunch doest’t have anything to do with bags

It's kinda like how Tamara got robbed and everyone knew about it. She then got replacement bags left and right since then. It's horrible what happened to them, but I am sure they mentioned that to the SA too.

"ohhhhh I was robbed and all my bags are gone" story.
Or maybe, just maybe, you should try developing and nurturing relationships/profiles across different regions… until HW merges your profile into one global

She’s cute and I occasionally like to watch her and Conor but they said Fendi was the same craftsmanship as Hermes…..I’m like girrrrl. I have both but no they are not. Sure maybe Hermes isn’t 6x better but they are not the same level. IMHO.

But anyways… I get that she’s a Fendi fangirl.
I like Dayle, she seems down to earth but her whole schtick about hating Hermes seemed a bit "the lady doth protest too much". Taking the mickey about people going on "journeys" hating the actual design of the bags, saying they are so dated and not functional etc etc Then as quick as you can say Hermes, she's buying one and pretending she didn't like them until it was "relaxed' with the bag undone. Gurl I have never seen a closed birkin worn by anyone so stop pretending it was a revelation "undone". My thoughts are she has been to Hermes and didn't like how she was treated as just another person walking in, she seems obsessed with how she is treated in Luxury shops. Plus she doesn't like the whole having to buy other items to secure the bag. That's fair enough but don't pretend you hated the design. Its kind of rude to be sticking it to people and laughing at those who choose to go on a "journey" when she gets a birkin with an appointment and no spend history. I would have bought her whole story if she was gracious about the bag but laughing at others is not cool.

OMG YES!! You took the words right out of my mouth. I wish I could put together a montage of every time she's called a Birkin ugly and boring, and how she'd never get one because of those reasons. And dont even get me started on her milking H content while mocking others who do the same. Of course one can change their mind, but she won’t ever say that and still seems to be arrogant about it. The story time she did about how she "scored a quota bag" was unreal. She made it about how she saved her friend's VIP appointment with her charm and wit. She got an offer because her friend is a VIP. Full stop, period, end of story. Just say Thanks Meredith and move on. The "undone" thing really did me in, though. I can't take her seriously after that. To your point, everyone wears the Birkin this way, but she's acting like she's the first person to have discovered that, and the reason why she likes Birkins now 🤨 She even said she cringed at the Birkin when offered it until the SA undid the sangles 💀

I totally agree with her obsession with how she's treated in luxury stores, I think this is why she's so obsessed with Fendi and why she has been such a staunch H hater. But hey, look at her now!

She does seem like a nice person, and I do enjoy her content occasionally, but I haven't been able to watch her videos after the story time video 🙃

I like Dayle’s videos but found her latest one unsavory. She’s publicly admitted to customs fraud as she didn’t declare her bags on the way back into Australia. She made it out like “oh well they didn’t ask me” but she would have signed an incoming passenger declaration (a legal document) stating that she wasn’t bringing in over $900 of goods. Our customs is quite strict and she’s very lucky to not have been fined.

I also enjoy Dayle’s videos but that’s the one thing that bothered me too. We’re the same way here in Canada. Sure lots of people do it but probably best not to discuss it on YT and give other people and the govt any ideas.
