I have a question about building a history with Hermes to possibly in the future receiving a quota bag offer. I want to make a few purchases for myself and gifts. There is a jewelry piece that I'm considering but it's not available at my closest boutique or at the boutique that is over 4 hours away. I can purchase it online, but does that count towards my history? I tried researching this information, but couldn't find clear answers.
Have any of you been offered a quota bag with having some online purchases. There are a few things I want which can be bought in store, but will most likely buy the jewelry piece online. It would be a shame that it's not considered.
Thanks in advance!!

It’s unlikely for online purchases to count towards a quota offer in store given neither the store nor your SA would have received credit for the sale.

What I’ve done is take screenshots of the item in cart so it has the product name/color/reference number and shared it with my SA to see if they either have it or could/will get it in the boutique. If not, then it would be up to you to decide if it’s worth purchasing online. Obviously, you should only be purchasing what you love and would enjoy but sometimes H purchases come with a bit of strategy. Good luck!

I will do exactly that and see if a SA can order me the jewelry piece. Hopefully, they can but if they can't I'll probably get it anyways. Lol.
Thanks for responding!

I would ask your SA if he wishes to do the on line order. My SA is happy to order on line items for me if he is unable to transfer. On my end, this functions as equivalent to a charge send. If he does the order in the boutique, I believe he gets credit. Other TPFers have reported that their SAs have asked that they simply purchase on line items themselves. I would ask for your SA’s preference.

Thank you! Good point on asking the SA their preference.

There are 2 people involved in getting you a quota bag offer. Your SA, and your SM (store manager). The way it generally works is that the SA proposes to the SM to give you a quota bag and the SM approves it (by looking at your shopping history).*

No matter what the SA tells you when you ask them:
- if your sale goes through your SA, they get credit because they made a sale
- if your sale goes through your store, your store gets credit because the store made a sale

So you see then that it follows logically that if you order something online all by yourself, that goes through neither. And if you ask your SA to order something online for you (same as a charge send of something from another store), at least your SA is getting the sale, but your store does not. So the best thing to do in an ideal situation is always to buy something that is from your store's inventory. But of course that is often not possible as it is in your case, so the next best thing is to at least ask your SA to see if they can make that order for you. And if they can't or don't care (normally the latter we see is with something small / too popular) and you absolutely still want the thing then you can order it online yourself. Depending on the SA / SM and how much they care about getting the sale though, this may in fact -negatively- affect your chance of a bag offer. So just be absolutely certain that you want the piece regardless of a bag before you pull the trigger that way!

Also, just know that sometimes SAs will not directly tell you just how much they / the SM value getting the sale and will instead say "you should do whatever makes you happy!". Just like how some SAs will say "I'm sorry we don't have any bags" or "there is no such thing as pre-spend"...if you are really into getting a bag offer, it doesn't hurt to be careful unless you already have a very good relationship / trust with your SA. I know my store's SM does care and if there are 2 profiles in front of them competing for the same quota bag offer, my SM will prioritize the client that has spent more money at their own store. But I've certainly heard SAs in my store tell their clients that they shouldn't worry, probably because technically they are not supposed to say that there are "rules" like that.

*there are always exceptions yada yada yada but this is how it *generally* works.

HTH!

Congratulations! Sooo beautiful!

I have a question since I'm a newbie to hermes (only have purchased sandals and jewelry ), if I take the clutch that i impulse bought back to a boutique, and exchange it for something in store, would it still not count towards my spending?

No idea. But I think it would be easier to return on line. And, then buy what you want in the store. There is no guarantee that the store will have what you want. And, honestly I would rather not involve my SA with a return for buyers remorse (different style and color, change of mind etc.). The reason why I purchase from my SA and not on line is to avoid or minimize errors of judgment in the first place (by getting an honest opinion from my SA who presumably knows my taste and what I already own) but this is JMO

I went in today to discuss this with an SA and they said there is no way to exchange it since they dont have anything to exchange it for lol.
