I'm so sad....

This standard of workmanship is truly unacceptable. They could have replaced your bag with the exact same bag at least, even if you did have to wait for it to be delivered.

My stepdaughter had this happen on a non-Legacy bag and it is in for repair right now. We got it for her this past Christmas. 2 1/2 months use!

I always thought that Coach stood behind their products.

There are a lot of very vintage Coach bags still in use with the turnlock - apparently they found a (much) cheaper way to make these new turnlocks. Hey, Reed Krakoff had to find some way to finance this  25 mil shack. Lasata, Estate of the Day - Luxist

^not all bags are still available. and it is at coach's discretion anyways, really.

they DO stand behind their products, though. if they don't fix it, they'll probably just replace it (if available) or give you a credit.

Actually, they DO prefer if you keep your receipt. I had some stitching come loose on my Carly recently and the SA said they recommend always keeping your receipt - I had to go to another boutique to swap mine out and they almost wouldn't do it because I didn't have the receipt. I figured I wasn't returning the bag, why keep the receipt? I'll keep all of 'em from now on!

I keep hearing about this too. I just purchased the Legazy zip which has a turn lock now im getting nervous. I don't want a bag to break on me after a couple of months, even if they do replace it.

you don't need a receipt to get something repaired...

and i think the stores know enough about what will get repaired or not to tell you and save you a few weeks of waiting.

I suppose, but if I really liked the bag I think I'd want it it sent anyway. I've had the Coach store look at few purses where the SA said they were too old, that wouldn't be repaired and the factory took care of them.

you can always tell them to send it in anyways. just talk to your sa.

ALWAYS save your reciept. now i'm gettin scared to buy one of the couple legacy bags i was looking at. i've been looking at more expensive bags (Kooba, Hayden-Harnett, Botkier, Tano, etc etc, just because i've heard that their quality is a bit higher, i'm sure thats what they all say) i REALLY don't want something that is going to break.

:crybaby: i'm SO sorry that happened to you. i'm sure if you contacted the coach factory themselves they'd fix it for you! i want a white Ali really bad... now i'm scared :crybaby:

ViciousBliss, I think that you should not be afraid of the quality of Coach bags, legacy or not. Customers have issues with their LV bags sometimes, although I have yet to experience this. Every now and then, I guess 1 out of __insert #__ customers get a "lemon" purse. :shrugs:

Don't let that refrain you from purchasing your white Ali. :)

I disagree. I believe Coach firmly stands behind their products. From down to the handbag matching my wardrobe for the season to the turnlock.

you know, that's a really good point. go through ANY subforum on hear and you'll see some quality issues. no brand is perfect!

I didn't have a receipt but I knew the date I purchased it (from Coach.com) and they gave me a full refund.

I was hoping they'd be able to fix it (Whiskey Shoulder with broken turnlock.) because I had the piece....

I'm looking at my satchel now, and the turnlock reminds me of a doorknob. If a doorknob is broken, don't you just take out the whole thing and replace it? Can't the turnlock be fixed in practically the same way? Or am I mistaken?

Forgive me..this thread got busy after I posted this morning...so this is in response to various posts in the thread.

First of all...everyone worried about the turnlock issues.....the SAs can confirm this...but I believe this was true on an earlier batch of legacy products... and that we heard about it almost immediately after the legacy product was released...I think maybe from ms whitney???? Anyways.....I know the bag I had the issue on was purchased within the first week the bag was available. I've not had any issue on the replacement bag they gave me, nor either of my madisons.

Second - Although I'm sure its nice to have your receipt....both when I had my legacy flap turnlock come off, and when my mom had an issue with her sig stripe swingpack. Neither of us had our receipt and the stores did not bat an eye at it. In my mom's case they somehow pulled up her original receipt (even though we were not at the store she bought it at) because when the processed a return and new purchase for the replacement bag they knew their sales tax was less than what she paid and refunded her the difference. When I went in (also to a store I do not shop at normally, in a state 800 miles away where I've never shopped before) they just took the bag and also processed a return and then purchase of the replacement bag.

So maybe if you are worried about it....always know where your coach receipts are...but remember quality problems ARE rare - with all my collection, my best friends collection (nearly as big as mine) and my mom's collection (small but growing) the two problems mentioned above are my ONLY coach quality issues and the store replaced both bags immediately without receipt or hesitation...and in both cases the SAs and managers were EXTREMELY apologetic for the troubles.

Now, if they don't offer a replacement its because its likely out of stock - but they should be offering you to send it in for repair then.
