Hmm, I think that much of the Bal leather is distressed in that it has a lot of "pattern" in it if that makes sense....it is not smooth, but rather has lots of distressing which is very desirable. To me, "veiny" means where the color saturation is not even and it looks "veiny" or "splotchy" and not well color saturated. Does that make sense????

There is a thread about this, but it still confuses, me, too. I think a bag may look more veiny (have lighter streaks in it) if it is dry or at least that is what I have read. Some Bal bags do have smoother leather, but I agree that veins = distressed to me, too. I haven't been collecting Bal bags for long, but I have yet to see one I didn't like, LOL.

To me, this is distressed:

and this (the make-up) is veiny:

and this is very veiny:

The "veiny" bags have lighter colored striations thorughout, where as the distressed bag have a uniform color with puffy variation in the leather itself.

Hello! I apologize if this has been posted before, but could someone please post photos showing the difference between "smooth" and "distressed" leather? Is one more desirable than the other or is it just a matter of taste?

Also, is "distressed" the same as "wrinkled"?

And finally, what does "veiny" look like compared to leather that is not "veiny"? Thanks!

First word for your bag: NICE!

I've never really described the Bbag leathers in words other than "I like it" or "I'm not so fond of it", but I'll give it a shot. Bbag veterans - please correct me as required?

So here goes... Other describing words, I am guessing, may include the following:
Saturated, deep black
Crackled/highly distressed/crackled, glazed effect
Veiny towards the top right hand corner
Gorgeous
