My 2 cents: If you want that paint so badly, paint it on a cheep bag, such as a ALDO bag or something. So when you get tired of the pattern, you don't regret wasting your Chanel bag. If many years later you find your self still like the same pattern (which most of the time it will not happen), then you can put it on your Chanel.
I love my hand-painted, vintage Roberto Cavalli suede clothes but they were actually painted by RC. As someone who has 'customised' their own bags with paintings (not Chanel) and lived to regret it, I hope that you won't regret it, you are certainly brave.
